Re: A couple of Gtir questions
You should keep an eye on EGT if your going to do this.

Provided that you can pull it apart with no issues, I'm betting this would be dead easy.

Re: Rescaling TP
Pull timing out first before you start too much work on AFRs as rescaling will advance all your timing map (as the ecu is no longer interpolating from the last cell value)

Re: Hitting last column in maps bad/not good tuning?
See if you can get a differential pressure gauge. They have two pipe inputs, you can then put them on each side of something you're trying to test (say intercooler) and then see where a restriction lies...

Re: Rich + More Ignition, Or Lean + Less Ignition?
Made 600+bhp on an ebay core without any problems, the larger ones seem fairly generic, however I don't like the end tanks, they don't encourage efficient use of the whole core. Agree with the above. One point about running lean on the Lemans 24hr cars is fuel stops. Running leaner can save you a hu...

Re: Spark cut instead of fuel cut?
Then fit something like a Bee-R rev limiter, and set it lower than the ECU rev limit.

Re: 500HP GTi-R
3076 turbo ex wastegate 800cc injectors 264 cams Custom spec gearbox No AFR plot as it was side exit exhaust that doesn't work well on this dyno, so I mapped it on the one fitted in the car. Top end could still do with some more ignition, hence the bump in the curve, and a bigger turbo... and and an...

Similar figures, 11 deg approx top end, and 4-5 peak torque, that's with some room for margin with fuel quality.

Make sure the base image matches that of the one on the ECU. I've seen this several times. (I.e. do not mix EU with JDM base images)

Re: ECU Rom conversion to allow another Distributor signal type.
Well unfortunately the dyno was fully booked today so I didn't get a power run. However it was immediately smoother and more to the point actually under my full control. It was running a bar of boost on stock compression, and at the same boost on the last ecu made around 230bhp@fly. I love the RNN14...

Re: ECU Rom conversion to allow another Distributor signal type.
Just thought I'd update this. Today I fitted that above GA16DE distributor to this engine. I then ripped out the old ECU and fitted a RNN14 ECU. Job done. All the annoying problems are now a bit of history. Would still be nice to see why the old ECUs play up the way they do, but at least its now gon...
