My main issue with the factory system is that it's inconsistent. It seems to work fine on some cars (I guess by "work fine" I mean that it doesn't false trigger) and then others of the same model are ultra sensitive. I have a couple of regular customers for example - one has an S15 that wa...

Hi Andy, I suspect the knock sensor thing won't really matter. One of the local guys has tried it using both wired together and reckons it works fine. I haven't personally tried it but I suspect either method would work. I'm not of the same opinion on the coolant temp sensor idea though. I've heard ...

For those in The Land of Oz - I just found out that you can actually get the Freescale pressure sensors from Farnell for $AU20. Plus overnight delivery. http://au.farnell.com/freescale-semiconductor/mpx4250gp/ic-pressure-sensor/dp/1555610 Or you can just get a sample from the Freescale website... Ei...

I just found my Freescale MPX4250GP. :)

Now if I can just find my DLP converter I'll be in business!

Awesome work Mike!! Well done indeed. I know how much work is involved in gathering info like this together. I usually leave the boost measurements to the dyno that I use but I've had cause to question its accuracy lately, so I think I'll hook up the DLP and a boost sensor so I can log boost directl...

Thanks Chris. Happy for you to be my "external memory". :) OK, so if the coil resistance is similar then it should be OK. Given that these things are pulsed on-off continuously I reckon it'd be good to have a diode across it. This will snub out the nasty spikes that happen when coils are t...

I reckon I've driven a MAC valve from the Nissan ECU before but I'll have to check. I'll dig my old MAC valve out again when I get a moment...

Just measure the resistance of the coil in the solenoid with a multimeter. If it's around the same measurement as the stock solenoid then you're OK. Note that some solenoids have a built-in snubbing diode. This means that you must get the polarity correct or you'll blow the diode/driver. Try it on a...

We originally thought the S15 was a 3D map too. But in the end we found that to not be the case. This is still a weird one cos it IS a 3D map. It's just not implemented that way.

Need to do some more testing on this one. Gotta get it working for S14 and R34 too.

Hey guys, Is there any reason why this cannot be implemented by just burning 2 images to a 27C256 and then use the highest order address bit to switch between the two images? One of my mates used to do this on his CA18 and it worked a treat. He didn't use it for launch control - just different tunes...

Matt mentioned this to me the other day as I was doing a Z32 ECU for a guy. I tried Matt's patched file to help with the TPS transition but it still has some issues. So I went back to a std Z32 image and it worked fine. This is on a S2 R33. He was running a Z32 AFM, otherwise all pretty much std. I ...

For anybody needing the resistor value to fake out the fuel temp sender, I did some bench testing and 2K works just fine. Giving 25 degrees.

This will be in the new version of the document anyway.

Hi Petros, Very interesting post. I totally agree with your thoughts. The 3071 seems to be a real sweet spot on a NEO RB25. I gotta say I was amazed to see the power it made before boost came up. And 280rwkw - I never would have thought it possible with the 71mm wheel. My experience has generally be...

Hey Chris, False knock indications are not unusual. Just turn the damn thing off and be happy. My mate's S15 was the same. It was pulling timing when it was a totally std car! Hence its staggering 100rwkw power output... I tuned an S13 the other day. It was going OK but producing very average power ...
