I always use "MAC" valves (as used by many of the aftermarket ECU guys).

Not sure if the factory driver would work on them. Just gotta measure the resistance I guess...

Hey Chris, Yeah, the Blitz EBC's are certainly the pick of the bunch. But I wasn't aware that you could change your boost level with RPM like you can by mapping the factory solenoid? I'm not understanding why an external WG would be better? Surely if an internal WG is flowing enough (which yours is ...

I didn't take any photos - it wasn't anything special. 0 to 12V pulses. The frequency was quite low. Most solenoids won't handle high frequencies cos they just can't move fast enough.

I'll take some shots when I investigate S14 boost control.

Yeah, that's the thing with boost control. The response is quite load dependant. As well as a host of other things - mainly ramp rate. I always use the same ramp rate on the dyno - so one car is compared fairly to the next. But comparing this to cars being tested on the road won't give the same ramp...

Yeah, I reckon it's way late for a 2871 with 0.64 housing. I suspect wheelspin may have been skewing the results though. It actually felt really good on the road. Looks like I'll be getting another go at it anyway. This time I'll disconnect the hose to the WG completely and do a partial run. Then I'...

Hey Chris, Just spoke to Graeme. His boost source is post IC. Hey, I did 2 SR20DET tunes for E85 the other day. Both basically the same setup - 52 trim 2871's, Z32 AFM's, 740cc inj. Where they were different is that one guy had used the standard WG actuator but the other guy used a 15psi HKS actuato...

Hi Petros, I just had a quick look at this and where Matt talks about larger injectors needing larger PW at high load I think he's meaning that usually guys who have fitted larger injectors have also increased boost etc. So you'll tend to find that in a turbo engine tuned for greater HP TTPmin will ...

I can't remember where he's taking the boost signal from. I always try to take them post IC if possible.

It's kinda involved. Then again you seem to be a kinda involved guy... ;) I started with a blue ECU connector with about 300mm of wire. Connected up the power and GND wires, provided main sensor inputs (AFM, coolant temp, TPS) using pots, wired in a Consult port, and built up a micro based circuit t...

OK, now there's some real weirdness going on. Neither TPS nor battery voltage should vary like that. And I suspect the actual battery voltage isn't doing that at all. I'd suggest you take a good look at the power and GND connections on your wiring loom. Particularly the main GND lugs that (on SR's a...

200mm is closer than ideal but may be OK as long as the pipework is nice and smooth. They usually seem to run too rich - to the point where they won't idle at all. But symptoms do vary. If you get desperate you could try extending the pipework to the AFM temporarily. One of my mates did this (he act...

You don't have your AFM close to the turbo do you? I've seen them get VERY upset if the AFM is mounted close to the compressor inlet.

Unlikely - but I thought I'd mention it....

I didn't do any pressure tests - I only checked whether the valve was open or closed.

These things can be very hard to track down cos you can't tell if the AFM voltage is changing because of what the engine is doing or if the engine is playing up because of what the AFM is doing! The idle is quite high so the AAC valve is closed most of the time. So it's not able to help stabilise id...
