Re: Pops & Bangs/Retarding Timing

how will this allow pops and bangs? Unless you have no BOVs at all, in which case the airflow reversal through the MAFs might initially push the TP load really high. (I think this happens to Immy21, seen it on his logs) But doing away with the fuel cut leaves you no protection in the event of an act...

Re: Boost control on s14 SR20DET

nice :) dunno how useful it will be to me with the issues I have with my hardware/base image, but will definitely make it easier for others. Regarding the main/knock tables, I wasnt aware of this either because I simply used knock copy on the main table each time i changed anything. Sorting the high...

Re: Boost control on s14 SR20DET

Also S14A used Type 4 board (80Fxx, 82Fxx, 83Fxx) whilst S14 uses Type 3 board (74Fxx, 75Fxx). Make sure you use the correct base image! Hmm. I wasnt aware of the board type differences either, when I swapped the board into my own ECU. So that means that not only is the base image wrong, but the bo...

Re: Boost control on s14 SR20DET

Thanks for taking some time to look into it. I am using 82F00 base image although my ECU and nistune board base image may not match... fairly sure my ecu is a 74F00... both are M/T but I used an s14a ECU to rob the nistune board out of for my s14 that had the s14a style loom plug... this was before ...

Re: Boost control on s14 SR20DET

Matt? No reply? Speed2 is non-adjustable, speed1 doesnt appear to affect anything.

Re: Cure SR20 VCT sprocket rattle through software/firmware...

From what Immy21 said a while back on SXOC, and my own findings... You can set the VTC to come in at any rpm/load you like, BUT it still needs the idle (throttle closed) indicator to be off, and it also needs the neutral indicator to be off. I suppose changing this in the firmware would be too much ...

Re: Boost control on s14 SR20DET

This is the oddest thing ever, I know like you say there is no high gear switch, but maybe it works it out itself from rpm vs speed? Look at this log, I will attatch my bin as well for comparison to boost tables. (speed2 table is back up to the working duty cycle, but during this log the highest val...

Matt? Any comment? is this possible, or is it limitations on the ECU firmware?

Re: Boost control on s14 SR20DET

I will have to take some logs to see exactly what the solenoid duty is doing in relation to the tables. Ideally I'd get it mapped for the same boost in every gear, and only bother fiddling with low gear boost later on. Is there a high gear switch on s14a ECUs? There are two switches on the box itsel...

Boost control on s14 SR20DET

I have got it working pretty nicely :) kinda. I have some boost spiking bugs that I need to go into. And I still dont understand the gear-based boost system. It looks promising though, and eventually it should be mapped linearly to throttle position and not just WOT. Stock T28 with stock wastegate, ...

Re: Cure SR20 VCT sprocket rattle through software/firmware...

Well my microswitch works pretty well. It only rattles on hot start-up for a few seconds.

But if we could have it through software it would be SO much neater.

Cure SR20 VCT sprocket rattle through software/firmware...

Yes, I know, it sounds like a typical internet scam :D but it seems so ridiculously easy and cheap compared to forking out for a new sprocket for £300+, and having it fail a year or two later! This is what I did earlier. Warm engine (90 degrees oil temp) it starts rattling like its about to die. htt...

Re: MAF VQ map for z33 VQ30DE - something not quite right?

Immy, I've just had a look at your bin, interesting to see you've just left the lower load scales blank. I dont get your ignition table though? It's not even as good as a stock one!!! Here's my effort so far, still needs a lot of fuel pulled out of the lower boost area but runs quite nice cruising a...

Re: MAF VQ map for z33 VQ30DE - something not quite right?

I suppose your turbo is tailing off near the top end, so the increase in airflow over rpm becomes less linear. I havent got any logs to hand (my laptop doesnt have internet) but mine peaks at around 117 at 5500rpm and only drops to 115 at the redline, IIRC. Thats running 14-15psi with a MBC, stock t...

Re: MAF VQ map for z33 VQ30DE - something not quite right?

Nice, thanks for the info both Immy and matt.

I dont understand how you have a TP peak of 124 at 4.5k and a lower TP of 104ish at 6k+?

Also my injectors are at 100% duty cycle to get around 11.5:1 AFR so I think mine probably need cleaned... just as well i have some 440's to put in :D
