Re: Can someone help me set up a base tune?
ok, thanks guys. I have got it to run at idle finally! Embarisingly enough, the reason it wouldnt run properly was because the plugs were shot...put in some new ones, and fired up sweet! (they were new ones, but after months of trying, I guess they got too fouled up to work). So now I just need to s...

Re: Can someone help me set up a base tune?
Wouldn't the timing in the CA maps be miles off for an engine that was only ever designed to run a points dizzy....with about 10deg inital + another 13 or so at full mechanical advance? is there an easy way to simulate that to begin with? or do you think the stock CA18DE timing maps will be adequate...

Re: Can someone help me set up a base tune?
If they were all set to 0 then would the engine run at all? I thought it would need at least 10 degrees or so? I have read all the manuals on the site, and the problems is that I can't get it to run at all without the starter motor helping it, so can't jump in and play with the nistune. That's why I...

Re: Can someone help me set up a base tune?
Check all the zero?
The injectors are the original l16e ones. They are hose tail type injectors so can't use ca injectors for simplicity

Can someone help me set up a base tune?
I need help setting up a base tune for a Nissan L16E engine. I have converted it all over to run a CA18 ecu. the original engine had fuel ecu only. So what is the best way to set up a base to start from? can anyone help? Mainly because there are so many different warm-up/idle/cold start/gear/neutral...

Re: knock sensor issues CA18DET
cool, so what is it for the CA18 then....I guess it's 500k ohm, since they look like the RB20 stlye and not the SR20 style? I have used 1M ohm resistors in the past, and on 2 cars recently.......they seemed to have worked fine so far, but havent really looked into it too much, so wanted to be sure I...

Re: knock sensor issues CA18DET
thanks, but that wasn't the question.bachig24u wrote:you can join two up in 'series' to get 1Mohm.
connect two ends together and use the other two loose ends to connect to the ecu pins.
the question being, will a 1M ohm resistor work? or is a 500k ohm resistor the answer?

Re: knock sensor issues CA18DET
can the 500k ohm be confirmed Matt?
I read elsewhere that it was a 1 Mohm resistor needed to bypass the knock sensor?

Re: Interesting question
so we can't be sure of their voltage on the outputs? I need to know if I can use the L20ET signal generator and optical pickup, with a CA18 disc, and connected to a CA18 ECU. I realise the L20ET is a 6cyl, and CA18 a 4cyl.....but that shouldnt matter if the disc's are swapped over? also the L20ET ha...

Re: Interesting question
I dont have the 12v feed figured out 100%.....as I said, I was only assuming that the Black/White wire would be the 12V, as it often was in nissan wiring colors.
Thats doesnt mean that it actually is tho.....there is a red one aswell?

Re: Androiders look here (Awesome engine display!!)
very cool.
would be even cooler to have a nistune app that worked wirelessly, so you could even shut down your engine remotely if you seen someone try steal your car lol

Interesting question
Hi guys, I have an interesting question for you all..... I have spent ages looking on the net for a wiring diagram for a L20ET, but cannot find one anywhere. All I really need to know, is the wiring for the optical distributor. It has 4 wires coming out.....Black(1), Green(2), Red(3) and Black/White...
