Calibrating LC1?

Hi,
I have recentley purchased a Innovate LC-1. I made up a sub loom to give it all necessary powers and earths. I also wired up the calibrating button and LED as described.

The problem I am having is that it shows no sign of lighting the LED while I am trying to calibrate and also the Lambda sensor dosent seem to be heating as I suspect it should.

What I am wondering is while I was trying to do this I did not have it connected to my laptop (I didnt buy the kit with the gague). Would I need it connected to a laptop (maybe with Logworks running?) for it to calibrate properly?

Any advice would be great as I am getting pretty annoyed that I cant use my new purchase!

You don't need to have it connected to a laptop to calibrate, its designed so you just need to use the pushbutton to set it into calibration mode. If the LED doesn't even come on and the sensor doesn't heat when the unit is powered (regardless of calibration mode or not) then you should check your wiring. If wiring double and triple checks out, then it might be a faulty sensor out of the box.

Do you have a gauge hooked up to it ? what does the gauge show when you power it up? I have a DB Gauge (not the fancy XD-16) on mine and it reads 7.4 and flashes until the sensor is warmed up and it gets a reading.

Remember calibration must be done outside of the exhaust pipe, even if the car hasn't been started for days (i.e sensor in free air).

Check the LC-1 documentation which comes with Logworks 3 when you install it. This contains the wiring to check the switch and LED again

If the LED doesnt work at all then something isnt wired up right...

Ya Checked my wiring and got it working today, although now it is flashing up an error code that the sensor is faulty! Great! Its supposed to be brand new

unplug the sensor and plug it again... it could be a bad contact on the plug.

Yeh i mentioned a possibly faulty sensor out of the box becuase i read a few times while i was doing research into the widebands that people have received faulty sensors with various different wideband units, not only the innovate ones from brand new. I'm not sure if the sensors are very fragile during shipping or if there is a normally high failure rate, but none the less at least now you can send the sensor back for another one and hopefully it will be smooth sailing from that point onwards.

Ya, I have contacted the company I bought it off and they said if I send them back the sensor they will replace it. I hope they honour there word

Innovate are pretty good for that stuff, once you get an RMA # and in warranty. I've had my LC-1 die due to long bench use and they replaced it quickly

Well the new sensor turned up today and geuss what.....its doing exactly the same thing

Has anyone had problems with the LC-1 unit new out of the box as its all I can think it can be now

and you're really sure the wiring is correct such as the connections ?
it's really weird...
