pulling back on timing

Post by johnus »

Hi all`, Does the s14a ecu pull back on timing if it detects knock even if timing map and knock map are the same? I did a log today in 3rd gear full load and the actual timing was no where near actual map , so i disabled knock feed back and made another run ,timing now matches map .So my guess is yes ,but why ? pretty sure its phantom knock but pulled a couple of degrees any way to be sure
Any one else found this?
thanks
paul

Yes one of the very annoying things with Nissan knock detection is false knock hits pulling back timing regardless if it is running main/knock maps. Becomes apparent when engine noise gets detected and causes these issues

Knock feedback off tends to avoid this problem...

Thanks for the info!
This is very useful if there are issues with the knock sensor. :D
