how to change afrs and ignition tables,,, and not blow an en

Post by pumba »

Hi all,

My first attempt at tuning and i'm not 100% on what are good afr rations...
and are these affected by the ignition timing or are they indipendant.

eg can i tune the fuel map first then tune ignition
or should they be done simultaniusly.??

eg2 if i go too lean in a certian area in the fuel map it will ping so i back off the ignition right?, when i correct the fuel map , i will have to redo the ignition.

so in a nut shell what is the process everione follows?
thanks

Have a safe ignition map to begin with, then get afr slightly richer than needed (say by 0.5 afr) then do ignition, if you hear pining your way past where you should be, retard it, by several deg, ignition comes to experience much more than fuel which is mostly the same across engines to a point. engines usually use from 50 (no load/over run)- 10 degrees or more (max load/low rpm) and anywhere in-between, Min ignition will occur at max torque on any engine.

There are several tuning guides for other systems such as Zemulator and Bikirom which people have put together.

For NIStune Pete is in the middle of our tuning guide, so will have something soon
