R33GTST first steps after Nistune is installed?
Hi there,
I just installed Nistune in a Z32 ECU.
I will install the ECU soon in my R33 GTST.
Are there any post installation checks I should do once the new ECU is installed?
I presume turning the ignition key and do a prayer before
Should the Skyline with the basemap behave just like before?
Or do I have to make any adjustments before I hit the road?

If ordered for RB25DET (as written on board) and the RB25 rewiring has been done internally, then it should just start

I'm not the RB guru here but I can give you some tips:
I did the initial install on one of these awhile ago and it was pretty painless. I'd programmed the now standard image that Matt provided for running Z32 ECU on R33 into the NIStune board. The owner had fitted Z32 AFM to the car and it was running std R33 370cc injectors. I fitted the ECU, turned the key and drove the car around the block a couple times. I may have tweaked the K constant slightly - can't remember. It drove just like a std car. It was then tuned by somebody else but initial signs were very good. The owner contacted me later and said that it tuned up perfectly and he was very happy with the result.
Basic steps:
1 - plug in ECU and turn key to ON
2 - plug into Consult port and make sure you can connect using NIStune
3 - sync maps from ECU into NIStune, bring up Injection multiplier and check "auto"
4 - start car
5 - if necessary adjust Injection multiplier (AKA K constant) up/down by clicking the value in the box and using +/- keys, hit Burn if you make any adjustments you wanna keep
6 - once it's idling nice and smooth you should be able to drive around the block
7 - check for any fault codes
8 - check that basic stuff is working like TPS CLosed light coming on when throttle closed, O2 sensor flapping back and forth once engine is warm etc.
9 - check that IGN timing reported in NIStune matches timing marks on engine with a timing light
Then it's time to get to the dyno and crank things up!

I did all the rewiring and soldering myself, so I just hope I did not mess up anything.
I can't wait to tune my car.
At current the standard ECU is having a hard time keeping up with the increased boost.
I am curious to see whether I have already outmaxed my AFM or fuel system.

Probably TP Load limit was hit first... usually the first thing we bump up

If you don't have a Z32 AFM then fit one now. As you already know, the std one maxxes out V quickly. By fitting a Z32 AFM the settings in the Z32 ECU are all pretty close cos both Z32 and R33 use 370cc injectors.

Should be here any time soon.
I also experienced fuel cuts it seems. (I guess due to the AFM maxing out and the ECU pulling the brakes)
From time to time to Skyline literally stopped the engine very violently as if the ignition was turned off.
That happened mostly when I floored it a bit more (when I pushed the pedal rapidly)
Everybody said it would go into rich and retard, but this was not what I experienced.
I just can't wait to give the car a good tune

wait and do things right... change the afm and then see if the TP limit adjustment is needed

Hi!
After much back and forth, soldering, and some problem with the software installation
I installed my Z32 ECU, checked if Nistune would find it on the bus and turned the key.
Miraculously the engine started on the spot!
PHEW ... so far so good.
The Z32 AFM is still in transit and I hope it will arrive anytime soon.
In the meantime I would like to familiarize myself with the software, record a few logs and see how the engine is 'feeling'
My old ECU was struggling with the 14PSI (see attached file for A/F ratio)
I already phoned a tuner and once the AFM is installed my Skyline will be on the dyno.
The price is around 225 GBP.
He also offered to send me maps (are there any maps here on the forum?)
What's worth exploring during this phase?
Injector duty cycle?
TP Load?

this is what I have done previously for someone using the standard Z32 AFM
(ie the 'injection mulitplier' and 'VQ maps' remain the same as stock Z32 since you are using the same injectors/AFM) so only the fuel/timing maps and scalers from RB25DET get used

you have email. please stick to one method of communication, since it doubles my efforts with multiple messages on different threads and email messages. I try not to work on weekends (!) but have to catch up occasionally to reduce my work load for the next week
