Z32 idle adjustment tables

Post by Torque »

Hello there,

Could someone shed some light on the Idle stabilization tables on the Z32 ECU?
On the original image (Z32) these are all ZERO.

Cheers,

Andrew

The idle stabilization tables were around the timing routines. I believe they were to adjust the timing but don't appear to be used due to the values they contain. Eric might know the answer to this one. I never looked at the code too closely for it

Hi Matt,

Yes ... in the Z32 images the values are all ZERO, but on the RB25DET they are set to some values.

I don't know how the Z32 determines the idle ignition range, but maybe it just does what ever is necessary (timing wise) to keep the engine
idling neatly.

And I am curious about attached table ... why is the Y-Axis in mV?

Has it something to do with AFM?

Just looking this up now

R32 RB20 Sign Name/explanation The number of bytes Lattice point Unit

7940 840 TADVLN Idle stabilization control limiter 1×16 LNRPM:100rpm Deg (ADV)
7950 850 TRETLM Idle stabilization control limiter 1×16 LNRPM:100rpm Deg (RET)
7980 880 TADVPS Control of idle stabilization 1×16 △ N:200rpm Deg (ADV)
7990 890 TRETPG Control of idle stabilization 1×16 △ N:200rpm Deg (RET)

The mV only for min was a typo in the code (should be DEG BDTC... fixed that)

Ohh ... that makes more sense then.
Not mV, but degrees.

My problems was that the idle was somehow rough once I switched into neutral.
But once I went into a gear (without releasing the clutch) idle was just fine.

So I figured something must be wrong with the idle tables.

I also noticed that while idling ignition was between 5 BTDC and 10 ATDC.

I then changed the idle tables to allow 15 ATDC and now engine is a happy bunny at idle :)
