Yesterday it was time to tune the Nissan for season 2011. We started with same tune as last year (mapped for 1.3bar) and gradually increased boost until we got to the target which now peaks at 2.2bar and the drops to about 2bar. We had some ignition problems at first when we started to increase the boost but after adjusting the gap on the sparkplug to 0.6mm we could go higher than 1.6bar. After that we did load / rpm sweeps to get the whole area mapped which resulted in a very nice response and quick spoolup.
Result after the tune: 405hk @ 5100rpm / 550Nm @ 4400rpm in the engine, about 373hp / 514Nm on the wheels.
Mods:
- Garrett GT3071R AR 0.64 turbo
- Braided water and oil lines to the turbo
- Greddy oilcatch tank
- Greddy Profec B-II boost control
- Greddy Full Auto turbo timer
- FMIC kit
- Stainless exhaust manifold
- 3" stainless Motoria exhaust
- Decat
- Monzä BO-200 blowoff valve
- Innovate LC-1 wideband
- Walbro 255l/h fuelpump
- Z32 MAF
- JECS 720cc injectors
- Z32 fuelfilter
- Nistune type 4
- Spec Stage 3+ clutch, should handle 800Nm
Well enough writing a few pictures and a video for you to look at.

Re: Nissan 200SX S14a 405hp / 550Nm
Hi, nice project,
I have few question if You can please answer:
I didn't read here about engine internals are they OEM?
Head gasket is uprated ?
And what type of spark plugs are You using? (I could see type of new spark in Yours gallery)
Thanks for answers...

Yes the engine is unopened, stock internals and stock headgasket. I know that I´m running on the limits for the internals, but I have also heard of several who have been driving with this kind of setup without problems. The original headgasket I feel is a cheap insurance instead of blowing something else. If the engine can outstand the season of 2011 I will most likely update the internals for 2012 with new pistons, rods and cams (and of course all the other bits that is good to change once the engine is open).skylinegtrhr wrote:Hi, nice project,

The spark plugs are NGK BKR7EIX with a gap of 0.6mm, these I will change to BKR8EIX in the near future.

Don't be afraid to try the 0.86 housing on these turbos. I've recently seen 2 of these on S14/15 SR20's and they were not the lag monsters I expected - and of course present much less back-pressure than the 0.64 housing.
Unlike 0.86 housing on 2871 which is horrible.
One made 260rwkw on 18psi using E85 (std cams). The other also made 260rwkw on 18psi but running normal (non-ethanol) 98 RON fuel (Poncams). So that's about 400hp at the crank give-or-take. Full boost was at 4400 with boost ramping up from about 3700.
Lots more to come with more boost but both internally std engines so didn't wanna push their luck.
Bottom line: 0.86 on 3071 = good. Cams = good. E85 = GOOD!
Everyone who drove these cars remarked on how good the boost response was. Go figure!
