hcr32 nistune first time problems

Post by Fiorante »

first time user with nistune, my ecu is jumping into the knock maps, but does not show which map i am in. what is a safe knock count value? its maxed out at about 11. an has anyone else had troubles with just opening the gauges an having the knock count climb higher an higher? then going into the knock warning panel an having it reset an act normal

There is no 'safe' count as such not like the powerFC. Any knock potentially detected - and I say potentially because I got engine noise on my R31 being picked up as knock should be listened to with knock sensor headphones. I cannot stress enough you cannot rely solely on the ECU knock sensing for tuning. We have picked up knock with headphones which the ECU did not get

Knock is just counted per each cell. If you stay in a cell it will just keep increasing for each knock detect it registers inside the ECU. Reset clears all cells as you found out

I've updated knock counting functionality in the firmware since currently knock warning panel and AFR panel must be open for it to work properly. This has changed in the recoding work I've been doing over the last few weeks
