What is nistune programmed in? maybe there are existing free code snippets out there you could pillage online? If I get some free time next wacky idea I get I could see if there is any existing code supporting the idea or closely adaptive...

Written in Visual C++ so yeah theres tons of stuff like codeguru.com and codeproject.com (where the grid control came from) which have good tutorials and sample projects
