I came across a possible discrepancy while re-modifying a Z32 ECU that was supposedly done years ago.
The knock-sensing was on and joined. I've cut the track but the guide calls for a 470K Ohm resistor, but the picture shows a 46.4K Ohm resistor?
v8:
Mine:
The other resistor for the fuel temperature (2.2K) is also a 5-band, but is correct. If you work a 470K resistor on a 3-band layout, yellow/blue/yellow would be 4/6/0000 (460,000) which would be close enough to correct, but it is a five-band jobbie, so yellow/blue/yellow/red/brown is 4/6/4/00 with a 1% tolerance.
yellow/blue/yellow/ORANGE (000) with a red 1% tolerance would give 464K.
Anyway, if this is all true you're welcome to use my image for the next version of the guide. I only have three-band resistors (yellow/violet/yellow) with a gold 5% tolerance, so hopefully it will do!

Hi Randy I actually use SMD resistors here for Z32 ECUs and did not have an exact value 1/4 watt full size resistor here, which is why the markings are wrong. Thanks for the image. I'll update it in the document!
Re: Z32 RB25DET Version 8 guide corrections
No problems! I figure some people with no multimeter will just find the resistors they need by the colours in the pictures. =-]

Re: Z32 RB25DET Version 8 guide corrections
Hi, have one question, I'm working in these modification and my question is I must use the igniter chip? because my engine is series 2, or work directly in z32 ecu?
thanks.
thanks.
Re: Z32 RB25DET Version 8 guide corrections
The igniters are still outside the ECU even through S2 has a different igniter setup. You are still fine with the Z32 ECU foe either S1/S2

Re: Z32 RB25DET Version 8 guide corrections
Don't rely on the markings, measure it !
Metal film resistor has different marking (color rings) than carbon resistor, depends on tolerance too 1% or 5% ....
The bottom one with yellow-purple-yellow-gold is a 5% carbon resistor and is really 470K
The top one is probably a metal resistor 1%
Sometimes SMD are easier, 750 is 75 Ohms, 751 750Ohms, etc ....

Hi,
The soldering on your PCB looks a bit on the 'çold' side.
I would repeat that work and give it a thorough check.
Metal film and carbon resistors have different colour coding.
AFAIK the values in the installation manual are correct.
