Z32 ECU, type2 board. Not revving past 2500rpm

Post by Boostoff »

:?: Having some issues getting the tune straightened out

I am running a RB25det S2, Z32MAF, and a Z32 ECU type2 board from a NISTune vendor for my specific application.

Engine starts and runs, but stumbles at / around 2500 rpm, and will -not- build any boost.

It almost feels like the engine is hitting a soft rev. I have changed those settings with no effect.

Any help or feedback is appreciated.

Most likely problem with maf.

I know it's wired correctly. Today I will swap out my MAF with another and see if that fixes the issue.

What AFRs are you getting when the problem occours?

Is the Z32 MAF purchased brand new from a reputable distributor (no chance of it being a copy at all?)

AFR= 11.8-10.5 @ idle. I dont have the parameters dialed in for anything more than the cold start, and my IACV isn't plumbed.

I changed out the MAF and walla! it revvs up ro 8k, whee! (Only did that once)

So yeah, it was a knockoff, I already hate-mailed the vendor.

Damn another knock off. I hear of these too often. Hopefully you can get your money back on that

Not even going to bother with trying to get the $$ back. PayPal purchased like a year ago. Just getting around to putting the engine together.

I played around with my K Constants and trimmed the tables like most other's do in the forum with my setup (RB25det S2 555's z32 AFM).

Car idles, but its shaky. I am changing the fuel filter and looking for air leaks to try and troubleshoot the issue. Also have a sweet V-Band misalignment issue off of the HX-35.

So I hope to have this all completed before the tuning session next month.

So, now it's not revving past 2000 RPM, and I have removed the timing belt twice to ensure (I double checked after the first time was unsuccessfull) that the timing was set properly.

I set the cam gears in alignment with #1 Cyl TDC, and after spinning it a few times, it is once more aligned as per the FSM.

Tensioner and idler replaced, and tensioner torqued as per the FSM.

Noone local I know has indepth knowldge of the RB25, or NISTune, nearest shop is 45 mins.

The car now runs really rough, but holds a semi-constant idle at 850 rpm.

At the end of roughly 30 seconds, the car leans out a little, and then smooths out, and 1 second after - quits.

I am confused. I have played with the K Constant values and smoothed out the cold-start maps.

I may try once more from scratch; anyone have a decent .bin for a S1.5 RB25det running a Z32 type2 NISTune and 550's?

Need to get this on the road before the end of the week so I can get it to a nearby shop for welding and a proper tune. Any and all help is appreciated.

And also, the AFR's are around 11 on startup, leaning out only to 12.4.. I think the car may flood itself out, but at the 30second mark it begins to smoothen, but dies..

i replaced the plugs, cleaned the wiring up, and gapped to .75mm

hard to start, took manupliating the throttle and a good 5 - 10 seconds to catch. idles like crap.

but i get redline out of it.

it builds power really slow. timing still.. ?

And at every stopsign, it dies... Should I change up my idle table values?

Post logs and your latest BIN file.

If still not reving past 2000rpm then MAF issue may still be a possibility

I will make a log @ idle, and maybe a lap of the neighborhood.

I changed my bin a little, but am still rich as hell.

My MAF is good, revving all the way to 7800

The maf may still be bad. I chased a problem for weeks on our rb20det and changed and checked everything. car would rev way past 2500 which is the magical maf number so i thought maf was good. Finally I changed the maf and car instantly started running perfect. Idle is perfect and it pulls like a beast all the way up. Log a run in nistune and look to see if your maf voltages are higher than normal, that will be an indication. Also watch your TP as it will go high really fast under low load with bad MAF.

Would like to see a log with your MAF voltage, TP (load), injection time and your AFRs. See what happens against RPM when load increases and the mixtures most likely lean out
