AIV Flags

Post by RJBijsterbosch »

I'm just wandering what the AIV flags are used for and what they do?

The standard Z32 RB25DET bin file has BIT 7 selected, in my bin file BIT 7 is not selected.

Disable air intake valve. I'm not sure what the function of the other flags are which is why they are not labeled (probably other functions)

What do you normally see? Is the AIV switch off or on normally. (RB25DET Z32 ECU) What's the benefit of turning it off. I cannot think of something to switch it off?

Normally for 41P03 the AIV flag is enabled. Not sure why disabled in yours. People with Z32 remove the air intake valve, and disabled the flag so the ECU does not use it

the AIV system is only on Z32's afaik.
It injects air into the rear catalysts to help these get up to operating temperature.
Unless your car also has this system (and it is still fully functional), you can turn this off
