R32 with A31 ECU support VCT control?

Post by WMD »

Hi,
I have been running a Type 1 board in a A31 Cefiro (RB20DET) ECU: 23710-72L10 in my R32. It was running a RB20DET which was all good. I have now changed to a RB25DET and I have it running fine but now I'm looking getting the VCT setup to work. I did assume I would need a rev window switch but after a bit of searching I noticed the "A31_FOR_RB25_11U00_74L0F_TPS_VCT_LEDOUT_v5_FP.ent".

So the question. Can I use what I have and mod this ECU to use the LED output? or does it just work with the type 2 board and/or the 74LXX ECU? Thanks
Matt

You need to remove the board and get it reflashed to that ENT file, to use the TPS idle and VCT mod

After this also get the ECU modified to run the wire from the unused LED output to the VCT output pin. I do this for $50 + freight. Order the FP upgrade on our website, and post the ECU

Cool, thanks for the reply! Need the car running at the moment so I'll put it on the "do later" list. Cheers

Hi, so I finally got around to this and got the board reflashed. While the VCT seems to work (cant actually drive the car yet but it flicks on and off with a bit of a rev) I am having trouble with the TPS and idle switch. Is the "TPS idle mod" due to adding the VCT functionality? My issue is I don't think I have ever had any voltage from the throttle position sensor showing on Nistune when connected with the laptop. It just used the throttle position switch which now seems to not be an option. I have tested my TPS position sensor (and two others) and they work with 5V supply voltage, varying voltage going out. I checked the continuity of that output back to ECU pin 38 and that seems fine but I cant get any throttle position voltage showing. I'm a bit stumped. Am I missing something? Car wont rev over about 2500rpm because the ECU is stuck with the "TPS idle" on.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Yes, it's always been in there since RB25DET does not have a TPS idle input. Just set the 'TPS trigger voltage' parameter higher

You may need to adjust VCT enable parameters (VCT TP) to where you need it

Thanks Matt but I've tried the trigger voltage all the way up, and down and at various points between. I don't have any throttle position voltage showing when connected to the laptop regardless of where the throttle is. As above I have checked multiple TPS and the continuity of the wires to the ECU. Perhaps an issue with the ECU itself?

Sounds like an issue with the ECU or wiring. Check to see if you have 5V on the TPS itself (against ground). Then also check at TPS itself, as well as TPS lines at the ECU if you have variable voltage.... because the ECU isn't seeing it
