Need help - 1996-1999 OBDII ECUs

Post by Matt »

Hi guys

I'm struggling to find the jumper positions for this 1996 OBD-II S14 KA24DE ECU

I know that Calum and JWT have figured out the jumper positions for these model ECUs since they sell daughterboards for them

Calum has indicated that there are two processors (CPUs) and two ROM chips in these ECUs. One set of pins does the main program, and the other does the OBD-II program

With the older 1995 S14 KA24DE ECU there was a resistor R001 in the middle of the ECU which tied pin 69 of the chip marked M37780 CPU to GND. It was used to indicate that a daughterboard was fitted for just the main program

On the later model ECUs this chip appears to live at the top left corner but it doesnt make sense where that particular pin is going (three different sets of resistor pads of which none seem to work)

Just wondering if anyone has access to a JWT or calum modified ECU for this year, regardless if its a Z32 1996, S14 KA24DE 1996+ or something close which they can look at. I need to determine which jumper they moved and where it is tracing to, so I can try out this on the bench....

thanks
Matt

hi Matt, I know it's an old thread, but I currently have access to a 1996 (OBD2) Z32 ECU (tuned by JWT)

let me know if you are still looking for any info.

thanks for the reply. i've managed to get a board from rune for the Z32 so only really just need to get hold of a 1996 Z32 ECU to keep here for testing. Since there arent that many around its probably its not really a priority at the moment since ive got a million things going on and OBD-II support isnt quite on the list at the moment although I've got ECUs here for KA24DE etc with those boards which I've worked out we can support if we double the board memory or make a workaround to let the ECU access the internal OBD-II ROM when needed
