Leaving consult cable plugged into consult port question

This is kind of a newbie question but i as just wondering if theres any harm in keeping the PLMS cable plugged into the consult port when not in use? Id rather just leave it there then go under my dash and take out the ecu cover and plugging in the cable everytime i want to fiddle with a tune.

I leave mine in all the time i have it plugged into a 4 port router has not done any harm after 1 year or so..
