Nistune won't connect to PC

Post by DanNY »

Software version: 9.13.10b
VG30E J30 Maxima
ECU: 23710-87U00 REV: 14(L)

installed the software and did all the steps to get the USB working in XP.
Device manger shows NIStune
USB View shows 0403 on vendor and C7D8 on product.

Everything seems to be running ok. When i plug in the USB cable the PC sees it (make the sound when something gets plugged in) but when i click on (USBConsult) it gives me the following error:
could not find NIStune USB device connected to PC

Car will start when i crank it...it runs rough but it still runs. Revs past 2K w/o any problems.

Checked the hoses and no vac leaks.

Car is running a turbo with 370CC injectors.
I do see the check engine light blinking at me.
at the moment i do not have a wide band installed yet.

Matt installed the board so i hope it's not installation problem. :)
hope that's enough details.
Thanks!
Dan

Does the USB device show up okay inside Device Manager? Does it have any errors?

tried a different PC and now i get this error message:

Consult communications error
Unable to read all consult registered data

device manager shows that the USB is connected correctly.
What else can it be? I installed the XP driver and that seems to be ok.
It just won't connect.

Any other suggestions? Help?

So I'm having the same problem as above.

Nistune Version 0.9.14.21
Rom File 2.2
ECU JECS
A18-617370 4112
Driver Version 2.4.16

The message I'm getting says, consult not connected. Device manager sees the device and says it's working properly, but I can't connect.
Can anyone give me some advice on what to do next? The appendix B documentation may suggest a corrupted EEPROM, but I thought I'd check here first.

Thanks,
John

Z31 VG30ET 300ZX 84 USDM 02P02 T M F " A18-617 370"
Okay so you've loaded the 1984 Z31 address file? What are the exact error message you are getting when you hit the connect button?

Can you also File-Configuration-Debug logging then restart Nistune and connect. Then send me the log and I can look at the errors in the debug log

Hey Matt

No address file loaded. Message reads "Consult not connected". Is there a chance it could be a bad cable?

I got the ecu back from you about a year ago and just now getting around to using it. I'll try the File-Configuration-Debug today.

Load an address file first. File-Open Address File and then select 'Z31 300ZX VG30 1984-1985'

Then try connection...

Also have a look at Type 1 quick start guide for more info on this (documentation link on our website)

Oh!! I apologize for the misunderstanding Matt, I thought we were past that already from the original post above. Should I start a new thread?

Here’s the run down:
Toshiba Satellite 4300 running XP Home Edition

Downloaded and installed ROM File Pack 2.2
Downloaded and installed Nistune Version 0.9.14.21
Connected the ecu to the laptop, turned ignition on, windows found new hardware
Installed Nistune\Type 1_ USB_Win2K_XP_Vista_Drivers
Verified that ID Vendor 0x0403 and ID Product 0xC7D8 was found using USBView

Verified that Windows XP Device Manager sees the Nistune Communication Device
Verified that the USB Com port is working with a flash drive and ECMTuning Ver. 3

Loaded address file
Loaded image file
Clicked PC/ECU sync
Message: Consult not connected

Downloaded and ran FTDI Clean, reinstalled drivers

Loaded address file
Loaded image file
Clicked PC/ECU sync
Message: Consult not connected

Does anyone have any guidance on what to do next? Did I miss something simple? I’m at work right now I don’t have the specific address and image file on hand.

Thanks,
John

Did you hit the 'consult' button before trying to sync the images? That was a step missed

Yep, that did the trick. Sorry I missed that step. I carry around all of the docs in a three ring binder and read them as much as posible, and still missed that so I feel really stupid. Thanks for the help Matt!!
