Fuel Pump Not Priming

Post by vagabond »

I have a Nistune assembled Type 1 for my Z31 installed. I have not loaded an address file yet do to a connection issue with the USB drivers that I will fix in the morning.

My question is this; should the fuel pump still initialize with out an image/rom/adr loaded?

If so, should I assume I received the ecu with an improper install?

the board should have a base image file pre-instaled/pre-loaded on the boards memory so the car can start etc etc etc... nothing to do with the software itself... I guess...
was the board properly fitted ?

Ordered it pre assembled. I assume Matt did the work. Iwould think it would be ready to go.

oh...you ordered it from Matt... being so, it should work with no hassle...
have you attached/connected the ECU properly to the plug ?

The only 2 things that come to mind is that maybe the install was bad (highly doubt it) or that you will need to reflash the image on the rom.
Get your USB driver issue figured out and reflash it with the rom that Matt sent you via email.

Also, what ECU and year/model z31 are you using?

Update:

I'm at my garage now installing the drivers. Plug in Nistune to the PC, and turned on the power.

LEDs Lit (not blinking)
Fuel Pump Not priming
No USB Drivers detected

Ok so I was going start with the drivers, and when I moved my PC the cord caught and jostled the Nistune.

Immediately fuel pump kick on and lights began blinking.

I assumed there is a bad connection in the casing itself?

Starting driver install now.

Drivers installed, resynced from the ecu, changed my injector size and burned the image.

I'm going to add the resistors now and report back.

Dropping resistors installed.

Turned the ECU on, nada... tapped the ECU housing, Fuel Pump kicks on.

Let it prime for a few seconds, then the car turned over and started briefly before stalling (for other reasons).

So, at this point does someone want to upload a pic and show me where the weak connection may be so I can get in there and fix it, and have the fuel pump prime without whacking my ECU.

Otherwise, I'm fairly pleased with the install and ease of use.

sounds like the boards not seated properly or something like that

pop open the top of the ECU casing, ground yourself against the vehicle chasis (aborb any static on you) and make sure the board is pushed firmly into the socket

put the ignition switch to 'on' and then see if the lights flash or just stay still. flash = good, still=problem

If its intermittent push against the board, make sure 4 wires soldered to the ECU are secure. if you can get a photo of thing you find odd, let me know.

If you ordered from nistune.com site it would have been me that did the install

Opened up the ECU and examined both sides. I don't see any bad connections. Made sure everything was seated.

I have a new CHTS sub harness and was ready to start the engine after sitting for a week waiting for the part.

ECU turns on but fuel pump no longer primes. Slight taps on the ecu housing like before, no longer kick on the fuel pump.

So I'm back to point A. Fuel Pump doesn't prime.

I swapped the Fuel Pump Relay with another and no prime. I getting another relay to eliminate that possibility but...
