had a quick look in a few books for a diagram with a late model single plug.--no luck.

but what i found was
CA16DE EXA
pin 10 switched to earth.
NC in neutral. O volts pin test.
NO in gear 12V pin test.
clutch switch in parrallel.

CA18DE[EXA}
pin 36 as above.
Pin 44 is idle switch possitive terminal.

R31/c32/z31
Pin 10 earthed in gear.

the reason Im asking, is that most of the cars I tune, and wire up are all engine transplants.
ie CA18DET into datsuns, and toyotas e.t.c.

So I chop out a fair amount of crap wires not needed in an old car, and the loom almost halves in size lol.
but the Nuetral switch is one that I have never understood what exactly I should do with it?
Whats your thoughts Matt? (you knowing or may be able to find out what that input pin does inside the ECU?)

I'll have a look this weekend and get back to you. pretty sure i switch it to 12 volts on the input side of things on the bench

ok, I looked at my wiring diagram, and it shows the neutral switch to earth (pin 44 - switch - earth)
so I guess I might add a switch to earth on the clutch pedal.

But do I really need to?
whats the downside of the ECU thinking its in gear all of the time?

Isn't it the other way, they ECU thinks it's in neutral all the time, hence it's not using the main tables?

you would then need to leave it open to make it think its in gear all the time

if it connects to ground via the switch then closed switch ties to ground when in neutral

yeah thats what Ive figured out now.

so by having the ECU think its in gear 100% of the time, that wont be a problem? I wouldnt think so....but thought I'd ask

dont think so. just might not access any maps where neutral is used to determine the outcome
