s15 changing to z32 AFM

Hi all,
Has anyone just changed the AFM out without changing the injectors.. Just wondering if it is possible to run such high K values... and if anyone has done it before..

i dont think it is from memory. we were trying something like this and noticed it hit the roof of K constant. you need injectors bigger to pull it back the other way

usually bigger injectors/AFM go hand in hand

bummer... just sold my 550's...

Anyway so it cant be done until I get the larger injectors ?

Might have to get a set of 740's if that is the case..

actually seems okay

K went from 27550 to 47500, so shouldnt be a problem for this one

awesome... didnt really want to have to go to all the trouble of injectors...

will put it on there and get it tuned... Is there reall that much variation between airflow meters ? or just z32's ?

I did it.
Z32 AFM with stock injectors on a 2001 Spec-R.

Like Matt said, K went from 27550 to 47500.

But that was a bit to rich, I adjusted it to 41400, now its perfect.

the HP readings for AFMs were from the original ROM Editor program. they are good enough for getting started but need some fine tuning to get them right. I suspect some of those HP figures need further adjusting to get it more accurate

cool... thanks matt and benny... I also deconstructed another tune that had 550's in it and the ze2 by reversing the injector size back down and ended up with about 43000..

hey benny did you see any gain from fitting the z32 ? have you set it up blow through or standard as in air filter..

Yes, gain was more boost, ~0.2 bar
But before Z32AFM and Apexi filter, there was stock AFM with panel filter, so I´m not sure how much gain is from Z32AFM and how much from Apexi filter.

looks good.. Is it an s15 or s14... I see you have the standard hot pipe as well.. with a front mount ?

Wondering why people earth the AFM near the air filter ? does it need to be earthed there or can it be earthed through the harness ?

Like the polished intake.. is that adapted to the tubo compressor cover or are you using a joiner ?

maybe you need a heatshield instead of cardboard

S15 with stock Heatpipe and Apex FMIC, yes.
I was not sure if it works without earthing, so to be on safe side...
Actually it looks better, moved the earth cable to another point and improved the cardboard.
I going to make a box for the filter, as soon as I have a bit more time :)

I also have a plstic one I bought but didnt like it as it covered the radiator overflow bottle and I didnt like not being able to see the water level..

I could measure it up if you wanted..

That would be great, thanx Chris!

Not being able to see the water level is actually a thing that I´m also thinking about, I´ll try to make possible to check the water level with installed heat shield box.

hey benne..

any chance i could have a look at your load scales ? I put the z32 in and it got really rich too fast... so I think there may be a prob with the load scales in mine or maybe the z32 is no good... I hope not...

As for the drwaing of the box it is on its way...

my load scales are stock...

Actually there are only 14 psi boost, so stock scales are still fine.
