Matt,

please look at this feature list, sounds amazing!

http://www.tunercode.com/

TunerCode is custom ECU firmware for enhanced functionality using stock ECU hardware. Currently under development for Nissan ECUs and to support CalumSult Real Time V2 expanded IO capability and TunerPro RT V5 enhanced editing, logging, and tracing.

TunerCode Features:

* High RPM tuning limit (8012.5 rpm) removed.
* Choice of softcut or hard rev limits. (All other rev limits removed)
* Softcut Speed Limit (Can be disabled or set for valet mode)
* Launch Control
* Injector Size parameter.
* Uses only one fuel map.
* Uses only one timing map.
* Uses only one CLT enrichment table.
* Enable/Disable Knock Analysis
* Enable/Disable Closed Loop O2 Analysis
* Enable/Disable Long Term Fuel Trim (self-learn)
* Enable/Disable TPS fuel map load column contol
* Enable/Disable EGR
* Enable/Disable AIV
* Enable/Disable O2 Sensor Heater
* Enable/Disable A/C Compressor
* Programmable A/C Compressor control
* Programmable Radiator Fan control.
* Enhanced Logging utilizing TunerProRT V5 Features

1. Logging of all sensor data, fueling and timing parameters, knock, idle, and status information.
2. Logging of CalumSult RTV2 Analog inputs and digital I/O
3. Map/Table Tracing for fuel and timing maps and all other tables.
4. Programmable Data Monitor Graphs
5. Programmable History Tables (Predefined knock, O2 sensor and MAF sensor tables)
6. Diagnostics Dash for TPS, idle, and timing adjustment

* Tuning Tables/Parameters for:

1. Fuel/Timing Maps and Tables
2. Knock Control
3. Dwell
4. Startup fuel/timing
5. Accel Enrichment
6. TPS Enrichment
7. CLT Enrichment
8. Decel Fuel Reduction
9. Idle fuel/timing
10. Fuel Cut control

I've had this pointed out to me this week. Dave has been working on firmware modifications for specific vehicles for a while

Some of the firmware changes such as launch and fan control have been available in the past and can be preloaded onto Nistune boards

Things like disabling the knock fuel/timing maps are fairly easy, but also provide space for his firmware

Some of the features we view as nice to haves but if they are actually going to be used by people is a different story. Also since this firmware is fairly custom and USDM based and we support many variants of vehicles, its release would be fairly limited. At this stage the project is quite technical from what I can see and suited to the 'tinkerer'

Regardless, if someone has the firmware we can patch the files for use with Nistune boards to use it (apart from the auxillary inputs)

The rest of tuner code looks like some type of windows application (modified Tuner Pro 5 or otherwise?) doing similar things to what Nistune does already.

Matt,

the features I think will be VERY useful:

* High RPM tuning limit (8012.5 rpm) removed.
* Choice of softcut or hard rev limits. (All other rev limits removed)
* Launch Control
* Enable/Disable Long Term Fuel Trim (self-learn)
* Enable/Disable TPS fuel map load column contol
* Enable/Disable EGR
* Enable/Disable AIV
* Enable/Disable A/C Compressor
* Programmable A/C Compressor control
* Programmable Radiator Fan control.

All the other can be made in Nistune also.

Once the firmware is available then it can be loaded into boards as required

Just an update on this one. Tuner code will be released as 'licenced' firmware. I would need to negoatiate features for Nistune then might be able to work something out there but need to talk futher to Dave about what we will do

Hi Matt any updates on this?
I presume You are now preoccupied with USB programmer?

I'm particularly interested in fan control for S14 SR20DET

interesting you brought up fan control for S14 SR20DET since I've been looking at it recently and have found the routines for various engines

the values for temp control are 'hard coded' in the ECU code area of the ECU. They dont live where the normal map values exist

It would be possible to change the code easily to use this by reading different areas of the maps area which arent currently used

Tunercode is different since they disassemble and then patch and then recompile the entire ECU source rather than patch the BIN directly

This allows tuner code to modify more code but obviously makes it more customised. In the interim any nistune firmware changes would be done directly to the binary

Oh and I havent been in touch with Dave since the last discussions when he would look into it during December. I'm not sure on the state and commercial stability of the firmware at this time. If we end up sorting something out, then adding any extra parameters in the address files to support the features is trivial

Yes currently I'm interested in getting USB BIP v7 board running and consequently finally programming the Type 5 board and OBD-II boards which have been collecting dust for over 12 months (we needed to update the programmer to support these boards)

So we can expect progress after USB programmer finished? Lot of drifters are asking me about this function ...

Any news about fan control?
Summer is starting here in Europe :) ...
Will it be just in address file or will be need to reprogram boards?

probably reprogram boards, new code needs to be added. not done yet, doing software updates at the moment

yeah I know. I need to get things to settle down a bit on this end and then will approach dave again.

We tend to patch and make portable code changes, whilst Daves approach is to disassemble, recode/patch and then rebuild into another BIN file. That makes it very specific to particular ECUs but on the flipside makes tuning more prediatable (eg PowerFC)

Completely different approach but the problem is that the consult mods in Tunercode interfere with standard consult implementaton so we cannot patch it

However if that part and the calumsult specific stuff (A/D conversion extra hardware) got removed and I updated address files accordingly there would be something we could use here.
