serial to usb no logworks

My computer dosen't have a DB9 port so I ordered the innovate USB adapter and it works fine in nistune but when I try to open the LM progamer it won't connect. It says to connect the serial port or turn the wideband on. The driver was installed with no problems just never connects. Any ideas?

clearly you have identified, it's not a Nistune issue, log works probably also works.
but,
with LM_prog you need only to connect one device at a time.
you need to plug the little terminaotr plug into the "in port" and the PC cable to the "out port" then it should all be good.

be patient as when changing serial plugs around the innovate devices need to be powered off/on and sometimes a reboot of the PC helps if you don't know who to use 'device manager' in MS-Windows.

also remove all power from the innovate unit before trying logworks and reconnecting everything. i've had some issues with getting connection first time with this stuff
