Very strange issue with K11 ecu (emulated) using NIStune

Post by Fusion Ed »

Working on an Almera turbo yesterday (GA16DE+T) and using a 99B00 K11 ECU I have a very strange problem under acceleration, its perfectly repeatable and I have seen this in many of these ECUs on the normal 1.3K11 , and I now want to know what it is as its becoming a real pain.

This is how you can re-create it.

Environmental settings:
Have the injection multiplier and latency correctly configured. Low speed mapping and closed loop tuned correctly etc. Essentially this is all tuned as it should be.

Accelerate from Idle/light load at 100% WOT.
For approximately 4-5 seconds the ECU will COMPLETELY ignore the high load fuel map. Set it as 8:1 if you wish, but youll see 13:1 etc, if you maintain this condition long enough (even if you have been using a dyno to lock vehicle speed), so everything remains constant it will suddenly drop out of what ever it is in and then read correctly from the ECU and you'll see what ever is on the fuel map.

I have had this happen on every one of these ECUs to a varying degree and I don't know why.

Any thoughts?

what about the VE maps, adjusting those does it make any difference?

No, it had absolutely no effect that i could see on the dyno at all, after this time period it then did and was fine.

Also I'm quite sure that some of the tables are wrong (accel increase fuel vs TPs) for example.

I tried everything I could think of.

have you tried adjusting the maf translation? you may have to adjust it alot to get the afr's to move

i had a massive whole in the centre of my map and i had it as rich as it would go and it wouldnt go rich under wot but under part throttle it was

turned out i had to disconnect the o2 and turn off the feedback switch and adjust my maf translation completely from 2volts up and the whole curve has changed

All that is fine. As I said its a momentary limitation after a few seconds it goes does what you would expect, just it doesn't do this for some reason initially. I have never had to alter the maf translation on any car I have done, this one is no different :)

Ed, could this happen on a Supercharged Micra engine also?
