Taking the plunge and mapping my own + license Q

I got a Z32ecu and type 2 board last year to save a 600m round trip to the only place in the UK that does the RB25 ecu everytime I need a remap but not long after my engine had a very painful death. I've now got a new engine in but it's a very different uprated spec compared to the old standard unit.

I'm having problems starting the car with the map that was put on the daughterboard so i'm going to have to bite the bullet now and start playing. My mates been doing his evo for a while now and seams to be doing well and has offered his help.

I've been lurking the forums for a while and keep seeing people having idleing problems with the RB25, my old engine never had any faults at all apart from datascan picking up the fueltemp problems but running and driving I couldn't tell it had a different ecu.
Am I going to start getting these problems or am I just lucky?

How do I order a license? the ordering thing says to add postage, do I not just get an email with the code once I've paid? and do I need to put the vehicle and part number in?

Hopefully I won't annoy you guys too much once I start. I've had plenty of time to read the manuals with no car to drive and crap english weather.

I'll take you on that if I get stuck cheers Ed.

I would have thought a lot more skyline owners would have this setup but hardly any of them have heard of it, the majority of them just get the standard ecu from RSP with a staged map on it. I'll spread the love for nistune:D

Unless your wanting an A* management system with traction conrol etc then I don't see why people keep bothering with stuff like emanage.

I'm sure in time with a bit more reverse engineering and tweeking the nissan ecus will reveal a few more hidden treasures.

I know the later evo ecu's are getting hacked to death and more and more features added all the time, my mates got map switching, antilag and all sorts on his standard evo 9 ecu now. theres a storm brewing with the evo tuners at the minute because ECUflash is free and the tuners are loosing out and being stubborn sticking with ecutek which is still very basic.

fuel temp affects starting the car with the Z32 on RB25. you need to use a resistor 2K ohms from memory between fuel temp line and ground to make it read 25degC on the fuel temp gauge as this helps with starting

That's interesting, and something to remember.

Andy yeah I work with Evos too. I've been watching that thread on the MLR with some amusement. The whole ECUflash product is turning the EVO ecu mapping world on its head. Tuners should be ready for this and stop selling the skill as a black art and instead sell on experience quality of service and backup. Its the only way as there is no black art to it now the information is so widely available, and everyone can see what's going on.

Sorry to go off topic, but its a topic close to my heart too. NIStune has done the same, anyone can buy and fit NIStune for Nissan applications, and indeed many do (and as a result suddenly a load of new 'experts' appeared over here). So the uniqueness of being able to tune these cars is lost and you have to find other ways to position yourself like as I said in the previous paragraph.

That could be the answer to my problems then. I'll try and get hold of a resistor and solder it in.

How do I go about ordering a license then?
I assume I put the same details in as I did to order the daughterboard and send the money minus the postage.
