Help - NIStune Board Base Image Programmer rev 5B with XP

Post by Dane_Miller »

On widowns xp, attempting to install base image with rev5b image programmer

Having hard time installing image files on virgin type 1 and 2 boards.

I have a window with open, initialise, program. I must be missing a step?

The rev 5a instructions do not match my software (or what i see at least). I do not have the interface with the red progress bar, initialise, write and verify buttons.

I have printer cable, usb power, pin jumped to board, and pgm j1 soldered as instructed in order.

Latest NTProgCE software removed a few buttons. There is still a progress bar, and you select which board you want to program (instructions need update?)

- Make sure you have PGM soldered on the board
- Make sure correct board and ROM image selected
- Make sure when you press initialise the yellow light flickers on
- When pressing program what error do you get?

This is my old base image programmer which you have there which I've been using for 6 months so its well tested!

it allows me to select an ENT file, it does not ask me or offer me to select a ROM image

im attempting with with the type-2 board for a Z32.

- Make sure you have PGM soldered on the board
yes. PGM is soldered

- Make sure correct board and ROM image selected
select ent , but now rom

- Make sure when you press initialise the yellow light flickers on
ill have to check

- When pressing program what error do you get?
it says with appears without 2 seconds of attempting to program "SUCCESS". but there is not progress bar.

ENT = ROM image basically

sounds like it didnt open one up. Select 'open' to browse for an ENT file and then click the file and then 'open'

After that it should take about 30 seconds to program the board

Might have to call me and walk through it. Tried another ENT file at all? It shouldnt be instant unless something wierd is going on (not something I've seen unless the file hasnt been opened successfully)

One thng I noticed is that my USB power supply from my computer is only 4.85-4.95 volts. Not 12 volts. Were you using the 12 Volt external power source, or USB power source?

If the 12 volt source doesnt work then im lost. Can you send me the old software with the initialize, write, and verify bottons?

USB power should be 5 volts! The other 12V input is pulled down to 5 volts by a regulator on the board

So that part is fine. The current software on the website for the programmer NTProg is what I use daily with it and works fine as well as the board itself which as I mentioned before was my daily programmer for 6 months

Make your LPT port on the PC Normal mode firstly (Rather than EPP/ECP mode and see how that goes)
