changing knock map changes ign retard tp & rpm cold timing

Post by nanook »

changing knock map changes "ignition retard tp" & "rpm cold timing subtract" values and visa versa

Are these tables somehow incorrect, causing them to interfere with each other?

Can anyone else confirm this or is this only happening for me.

Have I got something wrong here?

Thanks

"rpm cold timing subtract" was removed for next version

They were the same table. Ignition timing affected by temperature indexed table

I've downloaded and installed the latest version

NIStune_0.9.14.10.1b_setup.exe

But in help about NIStune it still shows 0.9.14.10b 25 July

Matt, Both these tables
"rpm cold timing subtract" and "ignition retard TP"

affect the knock map
they manipulate different areas of the knock map when values are changes
Even if only one of them is correct why does it change knock map values?
Surely the correct cold temp related ignition retard should have no effect on knock map values at all.

Am i missing something here?

Thanks in advance

But in help about NIStune it still shows 0.9.14.10b 25 July
that is correct, only the address file was changed which is why I added an extra identifier at the end. code is the same

What I found in base address file
TEMP_TIMING_QUANTITIVE = IGNITION_RETARD_TEMP
(removed first one. Due to separate disassemblies having different descriptions but same usage)

IGNITION_RETARD_TP,&H75D0,16,1,16,1,Ignition retard vs TP (okay for both Z32, R32 etc)

But this one only applies for Z32 and doesnt exist in HCR32, BNR32, A31 etc. So I've moved just into the Z32/M30 address files
TIMING_RPM_SUBTRACT,&H7540,16,1,16,1,Timing RPM subtract

Because of the above there was a conflict withHCR32 RB20DET
You can see fire table is 75xx hence the overlap:
REG_FUEL,&H7500,16,16,256,1,Low octane Fuel map

For now you can remove the IGNITION_RETARD_TP entry from this file

So i remove

IGNITION_RETARD_TP,&H75D0,16,1,16,1,Ignition retard vs TP

from BASE_RB20_VG30_256_E.adr

?

correct. I'll do another address update this week with the changes I've inserted. Still need to check out that CA18 temp enrich table for vetal before I do

If i remove

IGNITION_RETARD_TP,&H75D0,16,1,16,1,Ignition retard vs TP

from BASE_RB20_VG30_256_E.adr

Will that stop changes to the fuel knock map altering the ignition timing.

put these in C:\Program Files\Nistune\Address and should stop the problems

Is there a new address file for rb20 ecu running an rb25?

Matt can you recheck and confirm the cold timing subtract and any other maps/code affecting cold timing.

I have on 3 occasions found my car undrivable (crawls like a snail) when cold and this feels the same as before.

At different throttle/rpm while this is happening (prob rpm related) it feels better briefly but generally total crap.

I don't drive it cold so have not noticed this since it was addressed before but I feel there's still something effecting timing when cold.

I've been playing with the GTR ECU (similar to R32)

- Cold timing subtract for Z32 only so removed from HCR32/BNR32
- Tried to repeat the situation where it uses the warmup timing map, but cant seem to hit the sweet spot

The window is TP < 56, RPM < 3200, Temp 30degC-60degC

There must be something else. TPS must be on at the time

If you can get a consult log (stream mode) when this issue is happening then I can repeat on the bench

It would be using the 'Warmup timing' map I dare say which pulls timing down to 10 deg BDTC between 1200-2000rpm

You can try increasing this table, or reducing the parameters under 'warmup' timing to stop it happening (increase temperatures)

I still have this exact issue running RB20ecu on an RB25. When warming up im getting about 10degrees of timing unless i put my foot flat. Very very sluggish exhaust is much louder aswell. Happens when leaving work during a warm day aswell as the cold morning
