how does it go about speed limiting?
Complete ignition cut out?

It turns on the rev limiter.
There has never has (or ever will be) an OEM Nissan ECU that uses ignition cut to control power!!!!

sounds like we are back to being thrown through the windscreen when the fuel cut system bounces in and out.. although, it could be a good feature to stop those hooning teenagers from speeding about !!
It must be factory set to over 200kms.
Any idea what the hex value converts to in road speed?

No, that shouldn't be the case -with either style limiter you'd be thrown about. Have you set your RPM CUT RESUME (&3FE9) to smooth things out ? Prob not.......!
Remember there's RPM HARD, SOFT & RESUME
Speed Cut :-
The value in decimal is multiplied by 2. So .....
stock - &F0 x 2 (240d x 2) = 480km/h
It follows the standard Nissan conversion for VSS.

no, I can't say I have changed to 'fuel cut resume' as I couldn't see it in the address file.
The closest match would be a hashed out value for AI enrichment in the VLT address file.
I'm glad we haven't experienced the speed limiter yet and probably won't if its 480kms/h.
but would do if were set to 240k.
RPM HARD, SOFT & RESUME. related to rpm limit 1, or 2?
rpm limits have no noticeable affect on fuel cut or resume delta. seem to only come into affect when a sensor (e.g. maf) is out of limits.

I did hit the speed limiter on mine, as it is a 44Fx ECU and its code (and maybe memory mapping) is slightly different from the 39Fx code and the speed limiter option on nisture does not work with it.
It happens around 224km/h real, which is about 240km/h shown on the dash. It is not a cut, it just feels like the engine is out of puff (which is not the case), so i guess it retards ignition.
Note : the speed limiter only works with the 5th gear engaged ... You can get past it on the 4th
but i solved the problem another way, bought a 39F ecu.

Really ?? On a VL turbo ? - bench and vehicle testing proved correct.. It's never been listed in Nistune's VLT ADR to my knowledge either..
A 44Fxx or 39Fxx is a S13 CA18DET , not a RB30 !!
PLEASE keep the post on track and relevant..

the type1 board fits the CA18, and this is type1 section. Sorry about that, but maybe you should change the title for "RB30 speed limiter" instead of just "VL" ? It may prevent further misunderstandings.

The speed cut on the SR20 ECU's is also a nice soft cut. Very subtle actually. I've been caught out a couple of times with it - I didn't even know what was going on at first!

Added this and also added TP and RPM safety limits
Speed limit address in VLT is different to R31
TP_LIMIT_SAFETY,&H3EEA,1,1,1,1,TP safety limit (speedo = 0)
REV_LIMIT_SAFETY,&H3FE9,1,1,1,50,Rev Limit (safety cut - fuel)
