i just downloaded a basemap from 8bit on ka-t for 550s and a z32maf blow thru. car seems to idle very rich? on the consult gauge my maf reads 3.6-3.7 volts, inj reads about 25.xx and tp is is around 148 that's idling at 850rpm? should'nt the maf read around 1 volt? and inj i am assuming is injector duty cycle? i just installed the injectors and maf today

Yes seems very high for just idling. Does the actual MAF voltage input signal report this also with a volt meter?

I dont have a volt meter at the moment but i will check it today and poat my results

Yep, normally idle will give a bit over 1.0V on most AFM's and you should see the map trace over in the leftmost column in NIStune.

ok, so i swapped the 0-5v and 12v wires around and now i am getting normal readings. with key on car off it read 0.5v and at idle its around 1.2ish. But the car just dies after a few secs. free revving the car it will also only go to around 2k and that's it. When i unplug the maf it idles good and revs to max of about 2k or so. Having it plugged the other way i was able to free rev it as high as posible but it would read 3.6v with car off key on and at idle. Is this caused by a bad maf? I've tried connecting both grounds from the maf to the wire harness and grounding 1 to chassis. Same results. Any thoughts about this?

bad maf? any ideas? you guys have a wiring diagram on how to wire a z32maf into a 96 240sx? thanks

Normally if you start swapping wires aorund like that you'll quickly finish up with a dead ECU and could also kill the AFM. But it sounds like you've gotten away with it.

Now it'll come down to how good the tune is that you've used. As well as things like base timing adjustment and AFM placement. As you've probably read, the Z32 AFM's can be very touchy with how they're mounted/plumbed.

Well i am running 8-bits tune.. 550cc, z32maf blow thru.. As for wiring i am now using the diagram from jwt site. Hopefully it's just a fried maf sensor and a new maf will solve the problem.

new maf same problem.. if the ecu was fried would it still show the maf voltage on the nistune gauge? shows .48 volts with key on car off and 1.2v at idle

Those values don't sound too bad. It's not just the tune is it?

Have you tried adjusting K constant?
