hi just want to know if someone is using the gt3071r ar.64 internal gated on ca18det, how it performs, how is the spool, if you use it with standard cams or prefer other cams, any modification to the turbo like porting wastegate hole, and what power are you running with what boost.

i would like to do around 400hp so i´m choosing my turbo for it, i run a friends car 1.8t audi TT and this turbo preformed really well, so i have this now:

forged ca18det (wiseco, rods, acl bearings, acl race head gasket ,etc,
ported head and intake manifold runners
dual exhaust cams (248º 8.5mm)
8.7 compression ratio
denso 720cc
ss exhaust manifold
76mm full exhaust
fmic
walbro
gt2560r s15 spec-r turbo
bp ultimate 98ron

i made this with gt2560r

using 1.1bar peak boost and 0.9x stable.
my afr start leaning to 12:1 after 5000rpm and 11.5 from 4000 to 5000.

we tried another run with boost at 1.3 peak and hoping around 1.1 but clutch started to slip.
test made in 4th gear with s14 lsd (longer ratio)

so if you are using the gt3071r please tell me your ideas

regards

I would recommend to use a gt2871r (0,64) and something like poncams

1.0bar @ 3300rpm
1,4bar @ 3700rpm

around 380HP (98RON) with this boost, maybe can goal the 400hp with a little bit more boost

the 3071r is a little bit more laggy....around 4000-4400rpm full boost

Agreed I run the 3071 on my RB25 but for a smaller CA18 would recommend a smaller turbo

Yeah, particularly when running lowish compression I think you'd be better off with something a bit smaller. Bigger turbo might be OK if you had higher compression to help off-boost response, but then you'd be limiting the max boost you could run.

Maybe if you had 10:1 compression + E85 + 3071. :)

Having said all that, there are people out there running those turbos (and bigger) on CA18 - it all comes down to what level of lag you're comfortable with...

It's 2013 A.D. :) use modern twinscrool billet turbo kit and You will eliminate turbo lag, as I remember someone did post TS kit on CA18 on forum...

hi thanks for the replys, this version of gt3071r seams to be like the hks2835 turbo and they call it also gt2835 in garrett too, in sr20 it made 450hp on 1.6bar with the last owner, he told me he gets 1.5 at 43000rpm, but i don´t know if it´s true and the sr20 have vvt..

the twinscroll is a good ideia the only manifold i saw was made throw a conversion plate from an evo so lot of work, if there was a plug and play twinscroll manifold for the ca i will consider to use and change the exhaust housing from turbo.

could the t3(0.63) housing and external wastegate help to get more spool or the t25 (0.64) internal gate could be the best?

i will give it a go and try it out to see how it goes just need to get a decent cluch because the stage 3 from XTD/XTR/EBAY don´t hold with the gt2560r...

Get a spec stage 5 ca18det clutch from usa they will hold 500bhp on a ca18det , single plate it may be way to strong clampage that will destroy your gearbox , at that level of power get ready to do a 300sz gearbox convertion for your car thats the only way it can be reliable and strong for any power level u will ever get out of a ca18det

If you can afford a garrett gt3071r , I prefer to buy a GTX2867R.
I have tried to tune a gt3071r ar.64 internal gated on SR20DET, it will overboost even if the actuator totally removed.
it is not a problem if you use it with an external gate.
