Lean with 1000cc injectors

Post by LBS »

So a little background first, setup built KA24DE-T, xcessive intake with Q45 TB, 1000cc ID injectors, stock MAF 20G turbo, and E85 that is all that I can think of that would possible cause this.

Ok, the issue is I can get the idle to pretty much sit right on 14.7 and idle is pretty stable considering my setup, but as soon as I give it any amount of throttle it goes completely lean and sputters barely moving the car, I also notice that even when I put it into gear it will go completely lean without any throttle. I've attached a bin, if you need a data log of it I can post that also. I've done numerous boost leak and vacuum leak test, changes spark plugs, two different mafs pretty much the common sense things ive done..

was it running on pump fuel previously? if so, was it ok?
what was injection multiplier set to on pump fuel with the 1000cc inj's?
what is the injection multiplier now, running e85?

Before I had 370cc RC injectors, stock intake, stock maf and stock TB and it ran fine on pump never ran e85 on them no point. But I park my car for the winter and means I planned on going e85 this summer I drained all the fuel and have since only ran e85, but im going to run the e85 completely out and put 93 in and see if that changes anything, that is if I cant figure out what's going on. Multiplier is currently at 70 but I was thinking, would it make since to add 30% to that means e85 needs around that much more than 93? Latency is at 1050.

I can't understand why you have set the Air Fuel is so lean, e85 normally sits between 9 and 11 for idle.
14.7 is not even the 93 stoichiometric anymore.

as a very rough start calculate injector mulitplier by this method;

370cc to 1000cc in nistune is K=70.
add 40% enrichment by 70 x 1.4= 100 to 120. to give you an approximate E85 K value.
on the assumption the fuel volume is sufficient across the operating pressure.

if the id's are rebranded bosch then reducing the inj latency to 600-700 might be ok.

On my wideband it shows 14.7 but reality its 9.7ish, and from what I have gathered it doesn't matter the fuel its always going to look for lambda. But I did end up raising the multiplier and got it to drive around set it to 112, tonight I plan on doing some DD tuning. But now I cant get the idle to go past 14.0 but im fine with that because its smooth.

good to hear.. with idle, have a look at the minimum TP chart.

it will most likely need to be zero to enable DFCO to work.

latency on the 1000's can probably get down real low around 550us.
if you can get the cruize or idle where you want it, have a look at fuel pressure. it will be a trade off or balancing act.

Yeah I have TPMin all zeroed out, its been raining like crazy here so haven't gotten a chance to go out and do some cruising. But im having a issue with voltage changing and my idle going lean around 17.+ it does it if I turn the heater on or the cooling fan kicks on. Tried looking last night for a solution but didn't find anything. Do you know if I do the fuel pump modification it will help keep a steadier voltage? I also notice my FP gauge bounces up and down about .2-.3 notches while idling, could that be a bad gauge or bad fpr? Thanks for the help.

I decided to wire my fuel pump directly to the battery, took the voltage at idle from 11.9 to 14.0, but it still bogs it down once the Taurus fan kicks on, the pump voltage only drops .1 - .3 volts once the fan kicks on. Any ideas on what might be cause this? Didn't happen with the smaller 370cc injectors.

Thanks.

probably accelerator enrichment but if you
post a data log and we'll have lookee and find out.

make sure AFR's are in it.

Ive tried maxing it out and everywhere in between with no change either I have good cruise and throttle tip-in or I have good wot afr.

AFRs way too lean for E85. I've emailed what you should be targeting
