Z32 FPCM

Post by Bgtym »

On the RB25 ECU / PIN 104 there's a control output for the Fuel-Pump to make the pump
less noisy (maybe activated by TPS?)

The Z32 ECU has exactly the same PIN/circuit
(since my pump does not go into silent mode)

Is there a flag for this I can monitor?

and one more question
Pin 6 and 19, fan control
I can use these outputs to control fan, soldered individual wires.
  it will not hurt ECU))

I don't know about any flag outputs for the Z32 FPCM. The ECU only reports the fuel pump relay

Yes you can control other fans (not sure about current outputs of the output drivers, so make sure you use an additional relay to be safe) from the Z32 ECU

the Z32 TT / FPCM basically has 3 different modes, LOW LOAD (PUMP @ 6V) - MID LOAD (PUMP @ 7V) - HIGH LOAD (PUMP @ BATT VOLT)
AFAIK controlled through a PWM signal on pin 104
either the required PWM values are different for the RB25 or the FPCM is (completely) different.
Probably the easiest way to get it working is by installing a Z32 FPCM (from a Twinturbo)

@Matt: the pump mode is shown/set in register 0xE6
bit 1: PUMP @ 6 VOLT / LOW LOAD
bit 2: PUMP @ BATT VOLT / HIGH LOAD
bit 4: PUMP @ 7 VOLT / MID LOAD
bit 8: PUMP @ BATT VOLT (AFTER IGNITION TURNED ON or DURING ENGINE CRANK)

some additional/adjustable values
0x7424 : SECONDS OF PUMP PRIME (PUMP @ BATT VOLT) AFTER ENGINE START
0x74B3 : MAX TP LOW LOAD/ Switchpoint MID LOAD
0x74B6 : MAX TP MID LOAD / Switchpoint HIGH LOAD

Thanks for the info Eric. You really have this ECU nailed down!

Can i change temperatures when fan will switch on and off ?

I had the same thoughts about the fuel pump controller about 4 years ago and forgot about it.

On Z32 there are two signals/wires going to the FPCM, 104 + 35.
35 only on the turbo model.

On the RB25DET there is just one ECU signal going to the controller (104). I'm not sure how the FPCM actually works other than that it sits
between the fuel pump and ground. (Plus is switched to the pump via the fuel pump relay)

On RB26 it is 2 signals again (104, 106) and the FPCM wiring looks similar to the Z32TT.
FPMC1 and FPCM2 is the designation of those signals.

I suspect that on Z32 and RB26 the two signals are used to select the pump voltage, possibly just in a simple High/Low voltage code.

On RB25 it might just be Pump Low and Pump high (hence just one wire)
