USB eprom programmers?

I'm after recommendations for a USB Eprom programmer I can use from my laptop (it has no parallel port) External power if needed is no problem. I just need something reliable/flexible.
Any input appreciated, all my other programmers are parallel.

Moates (
www.moates.net) have a USB EPROM programmer which is meant to be pretty good
btw on a sidenote the firmware for Ostrich has been updated and adding support into NIStune currently for it

I need one to program AM29F010B which are larger.. I may give a usb>parallel converter a try. Though I don't know how good these are (or not)
Good news about the Ostrich firmware, I shall be updating my units then!

PCMCIA should work but USB-LPT are for printers only

Yes, that's exactly why I didn't get a USB one.

Tried a PCMCIA - LPT adapter on my Willem PCB4.5C programmer and it did not work, the software could not find the programmer.
I think the reason for this is the I/O range that is assigned to the card is different from the standard LPT I/O range (0378 - 037F)
and I haven't found a way to change the addressees,
the settings window for the device is grayed out so I cant check out the automatic settings box in WinXP.
I guess the address for the card is assigned within the range that is assigned to the PCMCIA controller itself.
And of course the willem software does not have the possibility to change the address for the LPT ports, only standard I/O range are available.
But if anyone have managed to get this working let me know,
for all I know the problem could my PCMCIA LPT adapter/driver.

I have recompiled an older version of the Willem source with Borland C++ so I should be able to modify the address range in that

Ok installed XP on an old laptop and installed Eprom45 on that. Working nicely, phew. Quite nice to have this old(er) machine up and running again too! Very handy to have a backup machine for mobile work etc..

Thats what I have two very old AMDK6 machines here for... to drive parallel EPROM programmer, NIStune programmer and parallel JTAG programmer
Just about all new laptops dont come with these so I have to reprogram everything remotely via network connections

A bit frustrating really isn't it. This one is a P3 1ghz machine its not too bad. I had it new in 2001 so its lasted incredibly well. Could do with a bit more than 256meg ram however.
