maxima ecu's

Do you want the board tested in the 89 to 9? eprom ecu maxima's? They use the 6303 processor with a 28pin eprom.

there is a bunch of non consult ECUs which use the 6303, including the CA18 which is one that a few people would be interested in getting consult from
the current board hardware may not work however due to the /OE and /CE usage on the ECUs. if you have an ECU there, let me know which line buzzes out to ground (0 ohms) and i can let you know if the board h/w is compatible.
my R32 6303 could in theory use this nistune board also but the /OE and /CE lines function differently which is causing me headaches.
what type of EPROM does it use is the next issue. the 6802 uses a 27C128 which all R31/Z31 images i've seen so far have some 'spare' space at B700-B701
if your ECU has a 27C256 and the space in the eprom at B700-8000 (3700 in the EPROM) is used then you will need a different decoder chip (the 84 pin PLC one) programming for that ECU, where there is some guaranteed free space for all 6303 27C256 based ecus. To find that I would be comparing a bunch of similar ECUs using the 6303 and look for common space for a different revision of the 84 pin chip.
im going to port the 6802 USB code accross in the next few days to 6303. most of it should be the same, and i could probably get the USB board running in my R32 with minimal fuss. if that works well, then i'll report the status and will find the consult registers for display and create an ADR file up in nistune for those ecus

both my HR31 and HCR32 6303 cpu based ecus have the /CE line (20) tied to ground. the current board revision will not work with these ecus. I need to make some changes to it and do some testing
I've uploaded the code to the HR31 as my test mule ecu for this stuff and will modify / get a new pcb for this when they arrive. I might hack up one of my original home etch prototype PCBs for this exercise just to confirm it works
looks promising that i could get this done fairly quickly at this stage

let me know if and when you want someone with a maxima to test it out.

no probs. i'll post on here when the new boards are done

Good news!
The autopatch code works on the 6303 CPU on my HR31. The board needed a few changes and I was able to get RPMs, TP, temp etc out of this ECU
this opens the way upto all the other legacy 6303 non-consult ECUs such as maxima, S13 CA18 etc
the only problem left is the doing store/recover on the NVRAM which i am having problems with on the R32/Z32 6303 based ecus

stock binfile. used at present in both 89 and 91 ecu's.

i can patch it but wont be able to test it until new boards are designed

A maxima user is confirmed and waiting with cash in hand for a board. Can you take a guess as to when he might have a board ready for testing?

it will about a minimum of a month away. the board is still in PCB layout phase and then need to get the boards and parts ordered (3 weeks)

initial prototype (modified rev1 board) seems to work fiine with CA18 and HR31 ecus. maxima should be the same

ok, when can i send him your email address?

what we should do is send me a binary file from the maxima firstly. i'll try it out here on a 6303 ecu if all good then i'll send that board through. hoping the consult ram locations are the same as the other ecus

matt: i don't have a pic of the maxima ecu guts. i've asked the tester to provide me with a few.
