DB9 USB Adapter cable question..

Post by OEM_Z »

Anyone know if Nistune will read the Innovate WB from when connected up to a DB9 to USB adapter cable? The newer laptop I have only has USB inputs. TIA

So all I do is connect it up and it will automatically start reading it? The reason I ask is because I know there are "com" settings to configure but usb isn't one of them. Sorry if I posted this in the wrong area.

check in the wideband section, but basically USB-serial converters create a device for themselves and then also install a COM port using the driver also which they hook into

so there will be a com port still with the device

FYI,

The Belkin F5U257 USB to Serial is one I have found to be one of the best I've tested overall.
I use the Belkin type to do firmware updates on older Electronic Equipment without issues eg. tape libraries, san controllers etc.

Many others have timing issues on serial and give delayed output or minor disconnects which give very poor results compared to serial real-time.

Maybe others could list the models they are using or not using for what reasons as Serial ports are almost obsolete on laptops.
