Z32 MAF upgrade, Plug in and go, or no?

Ok, my board has the mods done to it already. I am wondering about the pinout on the Z32 maf vs. the Z31 maf. The Z31 maf has all the pins used, while the Z32 maf is missing A and F. F is the cleaning cycle on the Z31 maf. Do I need change any wiring, or can I just plug in and go?

you definately need to change the wiring and also alter some circuitry inside the ECU itself

have a look at the Nistune software manual on our website in the MAF section for all the details

Thanks Matt.. I have read in a few places z31 and z32 pinouts are the same... well looking at the MAFS, that is not possible. Cant afford to ruin any of this hardware, Thank you.

This Nistune ECCS is from Jason as you probably know the history of it. The board already has the mods done to it, I just sat on it for the summer till I got a z32 maf. Well I have one now. Thanks again.

So, what are the letters for the z31 maf then if;

Z31

Wire A - Variable resistor
Wire B - Output voltage
Wire C - Ground (Black)
Wire D - Ground (Black)
Wire E - Power Source 12v+ (Black/White)
Wire F - Self cleaning

Z32 VG30 (80mm)
Wire A - Not Connected (orange)

Wire B - Signal (shielded white)
Wire C - 12v Ground (black)
Wire D - Signal Ground (shielded black)
Wire E - 12v Power (white)

Wire F - Not Connected

Would equal;

z31 Black white E (Battery source), Z32 E (12+ power)
z31 black signal A or B?? (variable resistor), z32 B (Signal)
z31 Black ground D (Ground), z32 D (ground)
z31 Black chassis C (ground), z32 C (ground)

Variable resistor or output voltage is the signal?

according to the Z31 FSM

A = variable resistor (not used with Z32 but I recommend resistor on this wire to 370 ohms to ground)
B = output voltage (black shielded)
C = ground (chassis)
D = ground (ECCS)
E = battery source (12V black striped)
F = self cleaning mechanism (not used with Z32)

Ok, So B is the shielded signal.

What I have is a S130(280zxt) turbo harness with the Z31 MAF and ECCS conversion done to it. So my shielded wire is everything that originally went to the AFM. When the swap was done, I just kept the shielding the same... Now I will change that.

Awesome.

haow many watts on that resistor? Also, I can only find a 360ohm resistor in various wattage's. Just ground it anywhere to the chassis?

ground it to the sensor ground. use 1/4 watt resistor. 360 ohm is fine. it just affects your injection multiplier

updated the docco
Pin A = Calibration pos (variable resistor)
Pin B = output voltage (black shielded 2-7 volts)
Pin C = ground (black - chassis)
Pin D = ground (black - ECCS)
Pin E = battery source (12V black striped)
Pin F = self cleaning mechanism (not used with Z32 MAF)
* Sensor and Chasis grounds are the same and are connected together
* Calibration pot must either use a 500 ohm variable resistor set to 382 ohms or 1/4 watt resistor 370 ohm or a value closest to this. Connect this resistor between pin 6 (Calibration pot line) and pin 1 (sensor ground).

I feel so stupid. I have read so much over and over.

I guess I need this spelled out for me. So this resistor is connected to wire A, and is grounded with the sensor ground D? Or is it on the ECCS side.

Is there a picture of this?

thats correct what you've said

sorry dont have any photos but would just be a picture of a resistor soldered between those two lines :wink:

Thanks. Sorry I'm dumb. I know I am making this way harder than it is supposed to be.
