locking vvt??

just wondered if nistune can do the same as consult on the sr20 engines and lock the variable timing to 15 degrees so you can set the CAS spot on ?? anybody know??

The cas is run off the exhaust cam so the vvt does not effect ignition timing in the least.

thats strange, in the instructions on the sxoc forum it says to use consult to lock the timing at 15 degrees before using the timing light

I haven't try it with NIStune yet but I use NissanDataScan 1.4. This is the last free version of it. There is a button where you can fix the timing at 15°. Then you can use a timing gun to check if the 15° that the ECU see is 15° in reality. You can use the same data cable as for NIStune.

thats exactly what i wanted, but wanted to know if nistune can do it??

it should be able to do it under active tests but apparently its not working for people. i've got the R34 here to test out on so I'll try and squeeze testing in for the beta release im working on

active test works for me, the only thing you need to do is change timing to 16deg then back to 15 and start the test to make it work right
it doesnt work if you just click start on the test
