NIStune ecu resetting like a machine gun

Ever since Friday, when I turn the key to the on position, I can here my fuel pump relay resetting very quickly to where it sounds like a machine gun. So I unplugged it and looked at the z31 ecu lights inside and they are doing the same thing.

Played with the harness to see if it itself was shorting, checked all my power and ground connections and they look good.

Sometimes it wont do a continuous reset, it will prime the fuel system like normal, but I get no ecu lights at all and the car wont start.

9 times out of 10 I am having these problems. I will try to get a video of it tonight.

But I drove it for almost 2 weeks with no problems.

Have you checked the install of the nistune board? sounds like something may have gotten loose.

either an installation problem or something went wrong after a tune/burn causing the ecu to reset

double check all your wiring and reinsert/remove cpu connector and check their connections

if still problems try the factory rom chip in the socket and see if same issue

did it happen after doing a burn by any chance?

before I posted I took the chip out and re installed it, then I got lucky and was able to reburn the tune. I went to get a video of it tonight and it is working fine. So I guess the chip was loose or a bad burn.

BTW, I dont have the stock chip. This ecu is one I bought off Jason (RedZ31) this was the one he was going to install in his Nissan Sport project car. I dont know if Matt modded it for the Z32 maf or if Jason did, but it is a modded one.

maybe dodgy wires. check it is all secure before you get stuck somewhere!

Had to have been a bad burn like you suggested. ECU is doing fine now. I just started over. So I guess I will re select my options and adjust some stuff to get back to where it was running good.

Sorry to drag up an oldish thread.

I had this problem the other day after trying unscuccesfully to start the car.

I have never burnt a ROM, I am fairly certain it was just getting really down on battery voltage and the relay was dropping out as the fuel pump tried to turn on.
