Re: Disadvantages of really lean AFR for cruising
I also have the ECUtalk display, and it reports about 9.5 litres per 100km while using the cruise control on a flat road at 100km/h. When I bought my bone stock '91 300ZX a long time ago, I went back to home by the motorway at 110km/h (it was rainning) and fuel consumption was also 9.5l/100km. BTW,...

Re: A Guide to Cheap DIY Datalogging
JM, an EGT probe uses special wires that are made from Chromel for the one and Alumel for the other. You need to use only those alloys till the amplifiers which include a temperature compensation. And can i use the EGT amplifier a split wires from my greddy egt to have it logging?

It would be very nice if Nistune included all tests Consult/Conzult have. Thus we'll use only 1 software. I used the Conzult's active test to find my #4 cylinder was dead. It's fully automatic : it switches between cylinders, measures RPM drops and indicates which cylinders could be bad (based on RP...

The cylinder #4 has blown. I didn't removed the engine since I checked it yesterday, but I removed the sparkplug and found : a big cloud of smoke coming from the crankcase through the piston, sparkplug full of carbon deposit, oil on the piston head, no compression (0 psi). Don't worry, I'm pretty su...

Matt, you could ask to Peter Collins at ECUTalk. I hope there's nothing secret in his formula. You Australians are great guys (Nistune, PLMS, TechEdge, ECUTalk...), you should work together :D Yes, I presume that : Current Fuel Consumption = Total Injectors Flow Rate * Current Injection Opening Time...

Big problem when uploading a BIN coming from a Zemulator
Car : Eurospec 1991 Z32 TT Board : type 2 I previously had a Zemulator which was running perfectly. So before installing my Type 2 board, I downloaded the ECU image using both Nistune and Conzult. Both files (.BIN) were the same, so no integrity problem I presume. As I know the Zem has its own secur...

AFAIK, I would be more interested in fuel consumption (instant, average), average speed during a trip... It has been done in ECUTalk. A HP gauge based on airflow and/or fuel consumption would not be accurate, because it would mean that whatever your tuning is, you get the same energy with the same v...

That's why I'm installing a self-made carputer in my Z32, running Nistune permanently, so that I can switch from one tune (say cruising with good gas mileage for the subway) to another (say safe high power for the track) as easily as I switch between max boosts on my EBC. Yes Pete, I agree with you ...
