ca18det 3-4k timing drops
Been having this prob lately my car seems to fall on its face hard in between 3-4k hooked up the laptop and noticed my timing drops around 3500 - 3900 rpm from 11-12 degrees where i have it set in my timing map to 6-8 degrees. I used knock copy for the timing and knock map could this be a problem with my cas? thanks

shouldnt be since your ECU controls the timing. do you have your map and log file

yesterday it was doing it worse but you'll see the difference from what it should be. Still dipping down to like 9-10. thanks

It's not showing a knock sensor fault code is it?

no knock sensor fault did another run today with a log and same thing posted up new log file. gonna try swapping a different cas tomorrow but did find my timing was set to 15degrees instead of ten but this is what i got after that. could a crap knock sensor cause this ?

I guess it could be a bit over sensitive.
I can't remember if it's possible to turn knock sensing off on the CA (in the flags section). Turn it off if you can. You could also disable knock sensing by turning off the flags in the individual cells in the timing map.

TPS idle light not showing up. Is your TPS switch working okay?
When your TPS voltage jumps that is when timing is pulled back... but I dont think that is related
First log 00:00:06.625
4075rpm, TP idx = 53
Timing should be about 22 but reads 14 on way up
Try disconnecting knock sensors? seems just on ramp up it pulled out a heap of timing for some reason

Alright today i did the knock sensor disconnect and instantly threw a code for it and was pulling tons of timing at times dropped down to like 3 degrees under boost. So i swapped my spare cas timed it to 10 degrees as per jap ca18det still doing same thing. I dont have a spare knock sensor to throw in but it seems to be working i dont think i can shut if off threw feedback setting. I did however tap on the intake with a screwdriver and it picks up that as a knock when i hit it hard enough. The only other thing i notice is the only maps that do anything are knock maps i could adjust fuel all the way rich or lean on the regular map and it wont make a difference. But if i do anything to knock maps works the way it should. Its always been like this is this normal for ca18det ecu. Any other ideas on what could be wrong. And its def when building boost when its pulling the most timing.

CA18DET has two knock sensors... disconnect them both?
Disconnecting one will cause a 21 (knock DTC) to be raised unless you put a 500kohm resistor in its place to simulate one connected
There is no ignore knock flag for this ECU from memory
If you are able to resistor both sensors and still have issues, then something else is a problem
Definitely ECU related - its the one pulling the timing as we can tell from the logs... apart from knock would not be sure why. Knock can pull LOTS of timing out. I saw this on R32s when testing knock count
If you pull up the knock/warning panel does it beep a lot when sensors connected when you are boosting up?

The only knock sensor i find is below the intake manifold Where is the other .

There is only one knock sensor for CA18DET.

just checked it out and no knock is detected but i did discover the neutral switch light never goes out this may be the cause? Only prob is i've been searching where this should be connected to to work correctly and came up with nothing. Anyone know off hand?

I got the neutral light off just by cutting the wire and taping it up but still no difference when building boost. But i did find it picks up knock count at that rpm and before it when i put it in stream mode must show up to quick for my laptop to pick up sometimes in tuner mode. If i wire in the resistor and it works fine would that pretty much mean my knock sensor is at fault.

Today i removed the knock sensor and grounded the threaded end to the intake manifold to keep the dtc off. But still picking up knock count and pulling timing? I did shield the wire coming from the comp to the sensor with tin foil cause my car was just a shell and didnt have any shielded wire around. I've read a thread stating the shielding has to be ground to a pin on the ecu is this true. Might this be picking uop feedback off another wire causing timing to be pulled
