Knock count firmware

Re: Knock count firmware
Dear Matt, any update on the knock control for BNR32 ECU? I'm using it on my BCNR33 but it seems that the knock count based on the signal on stock knock sensors was just not working! I notice that I all along get 0 knock count no matter how I adjust the timimg!
Thanks and Merry X'mas

Re: Knock count firmware
No update on that one yet. BNR32 and Z32 would be the next ones. I've gone through all the 91 vehicle types supported and added knock map highlighting in the code this side so far

Thanks Matt, looking forward to your update!Matt wrote:No update on that one yet. BNR32 and Z32 would be the next ones. I've gone through all the 91 vehicle types supported and added knock map highlighting in the code this side so far
Re: Knock count firmware
Yes, I to am looking forward to an update on the BNR32
Re: Knock count firmware
Me as well
Re: Knock count firmware
ok point taken! spent many many hours this week updating the main application software for better internal support of auxillary and misc sensors (including better implementation of knock counting)
Re: Knock count firmware
any news Matt ????
Re: Knock count firmware
How cool would it be to have knock detection and/or some counter .. maybe even the check-engine light flashing?
(I think the PowerFC does this?)
In the meantime you can set your knock maps to some very conservative values, this way you'll instantly notice
if the ECU accesses the knock maps (ignition that is)
From what I learned knock detection is somewhat between an art and science .. so we have to cut Matt some slack here
Especially no-one really knows how well the Z32 ECU works with the RB25 sensors ...
Cheers,
Andrew

Re: Knock count firmware
Yes, knock detection is certainly proving to be a curly one.
In the meantime yes, I use the same technique - drop all the values in your timing map to a very low value (I use 5 degrees) so that if the ECU jumps to the Knock maps you'll notice it immediately.
I used to use Knock Copy but this only confuses the issue cos you don't know when the ECU is using knock maps...

Re: Knock count firmware
Any update on finding the knock issue out with the z32 board?
Re: Knock count firmware
Yeah ... it seems not much going on with regards to knock detection ..
At least it would be nice to have some kind of 'beep' when the ECU switches to knock maps.
(this way you can drive the car and be notified ...)

Re: Knock count firmware
Matt, if you need help for the Z32, I have the code available to lit up the CEL once it switches over to knock maps.
It's a real simple code change

Hey Eric
That would be great. It would give me a good start on modifying the 63xx series code base for these ECUs. If you could email me any info I will start looking into this in a few weeks. I'm full time on Nistune now so just sorting through my backlog (tax, enquiries etc) and then back to software/firmware fixes
cheers
