Working on it. Visual studio 6 does not run on win7/vista so no helping debugging at the moment. But think I know what the problem may be. Working on it now

Same problem on my win xp netbook, since a few months nistune sometimes crashes, sometimes not.
Most time windows freezes completely, have to reboot then.

Windows freezing completely would be related to a driver issue (Ring 0 of the Operating System runs the drivers. If the drivers freeze up then so does windows)

What consult cable/drivers are you using?

Were there any particular operations causing crash issues under XP?

Map highlighting is a known issue (its in testing) and so is crash after checksum error in Win7/Vista

Does windows freeze up completely with the PLMS cable through?

Okay my question is then aimed at Benne
Most time windows freezes completely, have to reboot then.
I would need to know what cable you are using (and drivers for that cable) when windows completely locks up

oops, sorry for my late reply!

In my case its a PLMS USB to Consult Cable,
using FTDI Driver version 2.4.6.0.

Thanks for the info

Just an update on this one. I'm working on the next release at the moment. I've identified the cause of the crash bug for map highlighting (which may also appear under other cirumstances) and that has been fixed

Also updated the FTDI drivers

Need still to locate the cause of consult disconnect crashes (working on at the moment)

Also I'm moving a whole lot of the consult code which is spread throughout the nistune code into a single class and adding protected access methods. This will clean up the implementation internally and make the code more stable. About a weeks worth of work there. Started on this yesterday

what was both versions you were using? Make sure you run under XP where possible

Okay where it is currently - half the code has been rewritten. I've found some of the crash bugs and fixed (but not the one on consult disconnect). I'm planning to finish off Friday and then preliminary testing over the weekend on XP/Vista/7 for release about Monday

Hi Stiv. When you had to switch off - was windows freezing up or were you getting BSOD (blue screen of death)?

Sounds like he has the same problems as I have.
Screen just freezes, no bluescreen.

Last weekend I installed this drivers: http://www.plmsdevelopments.com/usb_drivers.htm
Now it seems like no more freezing screens but consult connection losts every few minutes...

Consult connection lost is due most likely to corruption on the consult line

See here:
http://nistune.com/docs/Installation_an ... ostics.pdf

The current known issue is when the disconnect occurs that windows crashes (or if it is freezing in your case then this is a driver issue mixed with code update most likely)
