Nistune 0.10.14 Release

Post by Matt »

There is now a beta version of 0.10.14 up on the website. Release notes included in the main directory location:
Version 0.10.14

Fixed bugs:

50F00 write error on low afm volt. Dislays as 0
Knock map read error
Alert when wideband file/s not found
Translation file browse needs to change to file rather than directory browse
Make table grids remember their position again
Colouring changes
Z32 ECU not reporting VTC (Digital control registers 2/3) in ram trace mode
Flags highlighted in comparison
Speed trial panel times out
Tooltips for filenames broken
MAF changes. Updated MAFs, address files and ROM pack
PIN cancel on type 1 still set pin. Fixed various pin issues
Map highlighting not working in step by step playback
Knock map highlighting only works in live mode (same with knock panel)
Fix auto display consult view and consult gauges window

Enhancements:

Internal software restructure of classes
Translation updates. Incorporate unicode
Recently used file list
VTC map highlighting
Extra boost control maps pt1
Add N1 VQ map
Beep when switching to knock maps
Percentage change and right click context sensitive changes
Comparison colours
Right click copy select to comparison
Log header to include time
Cells in delta more visible
Map trace reset from window

Main points:

The main things you will notice is that the menu systems are reorganised and some items which were duplicated with icons are removed (emulator upload/download are combined with sync)

Sync is now a single click operation and sounds on complete

Right click on grids and tables to adjust view/display options instead of previous tick boxes as well as copy/cut/paste facilities

Translation updates have been completed throughout the code. This means that all text can now be replaced with foreign characters. However this is dependent on your 'code page' which is how windows natively displays text on your windows installation for your region. Nistune updates towards UNICODE have been completed for most of the part but there are problems during execution for reading address files, log files etc due to the replacement of 2 characters for every 1 which UNICODE requires

Logging changes have been done to try and sync the cursor up but more work still required. It will load previously saved files on load up or after disconnecting consult.

Previously it has been mentioned that the usage of counterfeit Prolific USB-serial converters (available on ebay) were having problems with the 0.10 releases of Nistune. This is because they are a poor copy of the 'real' prolific chipset and required specific drivers just to function okay. Previously software problems with this driver were fixed by allowing a '0' time delay during the scan process. However I have found during testing that the hardware is rubbish and continuously disconnects my Innovate wideband, requiring full disconnect/reconnect of both Innovate as well as the converter, then rescanning the ports (rescan button added in File > Config). Replacing the converter with my Aten USB-serial converter (real prolific U232A chipset) showed no disconnects, delays during scan or other hardware issues with Innovates LC-1 unit)

Please post any issues with this particular build to this thread.

Attached to this post is a list of current known bugs and peoples requested enhancements. There are more not currently on this list which have been directly emailed to me. Now this interim build is available I will update that list accordingly and work on the next highest priority issues

People requesting enhancements, firmware updates etc must realise that application fixes take priority over improvements to the software, then next are high priority improvements etc. I also list investigation items which are for things which require a minimum of several hours of time to investigate things further as required by customers

Hi Matt,

Loaded the new version last night. Everything so far seems to be fine except for one thing:
When I try to go into AFR Autotune, Nistune will crash immediately. Basically, as soon as I choose the option on the menu.

OS: Windows 7 64bit (have tried different comparability modes as well)

If there are any logs I can provide or anything else that may help, let me know.

Cheers

Please enable File > Configuration > Debug logging

Then repeat the connection. Logs are saved in the Nistune logs directory

I run Windows 7 64 bit here also so will try that laptop next time in the vehicle

What wideband are you using? What vehicle are you connecting to?

Logs email to you!

Vehicle is a '93 180SX SR20DET. Think the ECU is 50F01.

Wideband is a Innovate LC-1 and it's connected with a FTDI USB - serial adapter if it makes a difference.

Cheers,
Matt

Something went haywire with the window handling between my last test and the release. I can repeat it here but trying to work it out at the moment

Problem found and fixed. Somehow ended up with duplicate resource IDs causing window to barf when displayed after adding last minute tickbox change

Sweet! Good fun finding bugs huh.. must be like finding a needle in a haystack sometimes!

So will the fixes be patched into the current version or will you be waiting to fix some more items until release again?

Cheers.

Delta Compare Colour Way OFF

Post by Torque »

(I was meaning to add this to the thread)

I just installed this new (beta?) release.
You sure did a lot of work there ..

What I found is that the colour for comparing maps (delta compare) is really weird and confusing.

Instead of a solid 'compare colour' there are now all kind of shades.

Is this a bug or a feature? It sure makes spotting deltas difficult.
Basically I just need to see where a cell differs, and this should be a high contrast solid colour (so black, or blue, or whatever ..) :)

These shades .. geeez ;)

Hmmmm

Not happy with the checkboxes gone, this function is not practical to have on right click :(

Which ones in particular? Most of these are one click only, apart from 'trail' which probably should have a tickbox again since right clicking that is showing to be annoying

Basically I'm thinking of getting rid of/minmising the panel due to duplicated consult information on the right. That is going to have its own separate window

Delta - as I've said I've darkened the existing colour. You mentioned using inverse but that wont work. It would look worse. What colour do you suggest for delta block if I make all cells one standard colour?

Oh the other reason for tickboxes, is that those panels take up valuable screen space if you have both fuel and timing maps open together on some machines they dont fit

Hi Matt,
This Panel has become my little friend and I found it quite handy to just click the boxes while looking at a map or a log trace.

Trail, Flag, Follow, Change .. are closes to my heart.
:)

Trail has been put back due to a few requests. Others remain right click
