R32 RB20DET ECU knock control

Post by FHCRSky »

I wanted to confirm the procedure for turning knock control off with R32 RB20DET ECU.

I understand that by copying the main ignition and fuel maps to knock ignition, fuel maps, that it will turn the map part off.

But how do you turn the "Knock Timing Beta Advance vs RPM" table off? I can't find anything in the manuals, or forum (unless I used wrong search keywords). Via looking at the dyno chart torque graph shape, I gather the ECU is using the "Knock Timing Beta Advance vs RPM" table up to 6000rpm. So as a guess, I would think "Detonation Ignition Retard" in tuning software turns the above "Knock Timing Beta Advance vs RPM" table off? So "0" is off, "1" is on?

Is there anything else that needs to be turned off???

I think I sort of found my answers with correct keywords ("Detonation Ignition Retard"), so I guess it didn't need to be answered more than once.

About "Knock maps" (It's a "04Uxx" R32 RB20DET ECU) -

So I gather with the "04Uxx" R32 RB20DET ECU, I should copy the main fuel map to knock fuelmap, and set "ignition retard setting" to 0, so as to stop the ECU pulling any ignition timing before switching to knock maps? This I also assume includes switching to "Knock Timing Beta Advance vs RPM" table?

Also shouldnt I 0 out the "Knock Timing Beta Advance vs RPM" table to make sure it doesn't affect ignition timing? But I have concerns that if I 0 out the "Knock Timing Beta Advance vs RPM" table, wouldn't that make ECU pull ignition timing to 0, or does the ECU only pull ignition timing up until 1 degree on that "Knock Timing Beta Advance vs RPM" table and when at 0 it's off? I gather an example of this is shown on the "ignition retard vs temperature table", where it's 0 until it reaches 110 degrees?

Yes or you can disable knock sensor feedback flag in 'Feedback switches'

"Knock Timing Beta Advance vs RPM" have not used this table. would need to look through the code again for that one
