I broke my consult cable by accident and I had to use a cheap one I had as a backup which I had used with nistune before but only for datalogging whilst using ostrich and it worked fine.
Now I had to use this cheap one one with a nistune board and keeps disconnecting after a few seconds and then gives a commstaterror and won't work unless I disconnect and plug into a different port.
If the engine is off I can edit and read and write for as long as I want.
Is this just a cheap cable problem?

consult keeps disconnecting

Re: consult keeps disconnecting
Yes it is a cheap cable problem. Nistune is receiving dodgy data from the ECU through the cable as it is unable to handle the vehicle electrical noise whilst running
That is why there are no issues when engine not running
Perhaps we can fix the cable if it is a PLMS one

Re: consult keeps disconnecting
It is a ecutalk cable, I plugged it into a friends car which had an rb26 conversion and someone had wired the consult plug with the live and the earth the wrong way round. The ecutalk cable heated up and it looks like a component labelled c17f ? anyone know what it is?
