RB25DET strange shut down on warm idle

RB25DET strange shut down on warm idle
I was working on a RB25DET with type 3 board in it. Car was running good on idle while engine was cold. After the engine reached 60 degrees temperature it shut down like it was turned from key. After that it was not possible to start the car without using throttle. Then it would idle for various amount of time and shut down again.
While the car was driven it was working with no problems, but when let it roll with idle, it shut down again.
When the car was sitting outside for a coffee break, it started well without problems and was running on idle for few minutes and again.
Car was having Z32 MAF modified to a new pipe and added to pressure side and 850cc injectors. After disconnecting and connecting AAC, I didn't notice any change in RPM. We "adjusted" the idle with throttle valve, so that it is a little open but still gives TP closed signal. With that, we managed to keep the car running for quite much better. Could non working AAC do something like that?
Removing connector from TPS caused engine to run around 1700 rpm, and it did not shut down.
Or is it just something in the mapping that it changes from cold/after crank map to some warm maps and there is something wrong in it?
It just felt completely strange. It sounds like someone turns the ignition off. Car was also having turbo timer, which was turned off or not in use at the moment. I found from some forum someone having similar shut down problem and it was found to be from switched off turbo timer, but it was running 30 second this on the time is never same.

Re: RB25DET strange shut down on warm idle
We dont support the RB25DET with Z32 (Type 3) so I'm not sure what is going on there. Perhaps something with changing K constant affected warm start (once cold start maps were no longer used)
Re: RB25DET strange shut down on warm idle
It was Infinity J30 ECU.Matt wrote:We dont support the RB25DET with Z32 (Type 3) so I'm not sure what is going on there. Perhaps something with changing K constant affected warm start (once cold start maps were no longer used)
Re: RB25DET strange shut down on warm idle
Would need a log file to look into it further of when the shutdown occours
Re: RB25DET strange shut down on warm idle
This same ECU has now reached to the next owner and the problem occurs also with this one. Engine and ecu shutdown when reaching 60 degrees of temperature at idle.
I suppose this car is having RB25DET Spec2 engine with spec1 wiring. At least it doesn't have PTU and TPS has two connectors but the wiring only has one.
I checked that all the pins in the ecu is matching the wiring.
ECU is 17Y11 end number and with the number on top of the ecu internet search can tell that it is J30 ecu. It has type 3 board inside and it is having J2 connected.

Re: RB25DET strange shut down on warm idle
You could try getting the board reflashed.
Does it start again once shut down?
Yes ZPower (Teemu) uses these ones for the RB25s. He sent me one here to upgrade to Feature Pack 1 last week. You could try contacting him for ideas/reflash (contact details under Workshops)

Re: RB25DET strange shut down on warm idle
I already sent mail to Teemu about it, waiting for a reply on that one. I will reply here if the problem gets solved.
Really interesting behavior, as 60 degrees of engine temperature is a complete show stopper on idle, but while driving, it works without problems.

Re: RB25DET strange shut down on warm idle
Is the ECU modified correctly to make it work properly? No fault codes?
If the fuel temp was not in the correct area it may cause this side effect

Re: RB25DET strange shut down on warm idle
Really late update on this one:
I don't know what caused this issue. Issue was solved by changing to another ecu, maybe it was for RB20.

Strange. I havent had any experience with the 17Y11 ECUs which Teemu was using
