Infiniti M30 (Leopard F31) ECU in a Z31
What advantages does the M30 ECU have over the 88-89 Z31 ECU? Is it worth upgrading to?

Re: Infiniti M30 (Leopard F31) ECU in a Z31
m30 ecu in stock form is superior to z31 ecu in that it already has communication through the consult port and the ability to "trim fuel".
I put a l28et into my m30, routed the wires to the proper devices, put a z31 disc into the l28et distributor, installed the stock 280zx turbo dropping resistors and it started right away.
only issues are a little richness at initial start and the sky high timing of an ecu made for non turbo use.
use nistune to optimize mixture and timing and perfect.
of course, nistune on z31 ecu gives you almost the same experience and it's much more common so you have to weigh what's worth doing
