Dual R32 GTR AFM to single Q45 AFM

If it isnt a problem or a suggestion it probably goes here.

Dual R32 GTR AFM to single Q45 AFM

Post by -==L=a=N=c=E==- »

Ok, i know the typical setup is to go twin Z32 AFM's, but for my goals (single turbo GT30 or GT35 turbo) perhaps a single Q45 is more appropriate, or even the single ford AFM.

My question relates to
a) in terms of wiring, do i just connect the output of the Q45 to both channels
b) do i just select the correct AFM map in nistune, and away i go?

I've used the stock maf sensors trimmed out of the housing (round pipe part) and installed the sensor into a 3" pipe with epoxy. So far we've run upto 17psi with the sensor reading about 4.5vdc. The car (89 BNR32) is running 125mph in the 1/4mi with this setup.

thats interesting!

Well i plan on going single, hence the question of going to a single MAF to simplify the plumbing. But it isn't made clear exactly what software changes need to happen.

just remember that Q45 MAF tops out before Z32 MAF, even though its larger diameter

Now thats interesting, i was under the impression that there were 2 different Q45's floating around on the market.

Would explain why a few people have problems with Q45's maxing out...

Anyways, single lightning AFM then, do i pair up the AFM inputs on my ecu, and then load the lightning map?

Just read this post the other day regarding on topic post but opposite scenario
http://ecu2.forumwise.com/ecu2-thread1821.html

Yes you can load the lighting map and then configure K constant

There should be no electrical reason why you cant put a single MAF output into two separate MAF inputs. (Shouldnt short anything out since the circuits just feed into separate inputs of an A/D converter)

In theory normally each BNR32 MAF would read half of the total volume of air sucked into the engine..... so with one MAF input only, the ECU would see double what it normally would

So that would mean halve the K constant after recalulating K constant for the lightning MAF. Correct me if I'm wrong here...

Good to see someone try this. We considered doing this, but swapping the stock sensors was a freebie so we went with that for now.

I'm starting to understand this i think.....

Lets say i were to use a pair of RB20 AFM's i just use the VQ curve thats in the software already, and because i'll be using a pair of them, double the K Constant?
